These are the Overwatch 2 Season 6 Expectations.
Let’s face it, Season 5 of Overwatch 2 was not the most successful thing in the world. While a lot of people are playing the game, many players are concerned that Overwatch 2 is dying. This continues to be an issue, which means Overwatch 2 Season 6 needs to blow us out of the water to save the game.
Judging by some of the Overwatch 2 Season 6 expectations, it seems like we are in for a treat. Blizzard (now a part of Microsoft) has prepared a lot of interesting things that we’ll have the chance to test, so let’s learn more about some of them. Remember that the things you are about to read are rumors mixed with what we expect to see, so there could be a lot of changes later down the road.
When to expect it?
Unless something comes up and Blizzard decides to change the release date, Overwatch 2 Season 6 should arrive around August 10. We do not expect the company to delay it any longer because they need to offer us something new in order to keep us interested in this game.
We have around 9 days until Season 6 becomes available, so players who want to rank up right now should start playing. As you’ll see in this Overwatch 2 Season 6 expectations article, there will probably a lot of buffs and nerfs that will change the current meta. So, if this is something you are interested in, make sure to play now and reach your desired rank. You can also check some of the heroes to avoid in Season 5 of Overwatch 2.
PvE
The first thing that we need to include on the list of Overwatch 2 Season 6 expectations is PVE. This was one of the most controversial things about the game because we should have had access to the new PVE Mode by now. That said, Blizzard’s announcement that we won’t be getting it pissed off a lot of players who were eagerly waiting for the announcement.
As far as we know, PvE in Season 6 of Overwatch 2 won’t be exactly what we imagine. According to the news, some people have already tried it because players like KarQ announced on Twitter some of the pros. For example, there is a lore/story progression, as well as beautiful environmental and lightning art.
There were also a lot of cons, but overall, he rates it at 6.5, which is not that bad. We will just have to wait and see what to expect.
New Hero
Season 6 of Overwatch 2 is when we expect to see a new hero in the game. It’s safe to say that Lifeweaver was not the best addition because he’s not the most popular option. Therefore, most people expect the new hero to be a lot more interesting to play.
We do not know much about it, other than that it will be a Support. Some rumors on Twitter indicated that the hero can be Peruvian, so it will be interesting to see what’s going to happen. Like all new heroes, this one will probably be a lot stronger than the rest, but we expect Blizzard to release a hotfix shortly after the new hero becomes available.
Hero Mastery
Another new thing we had to include in the Overwatch 2 Season 6 expectations article is the so-called Hero Mastery. This will be similar to what’s available in games like Dota 2, which means that you will have to do different tasks while playing with some heroes. For example, you may have to land a certain number of headshots or kill and X amount of people within a given time frame. Once the task is completed, you will receive mastery for the hero, but we expect to see other kinds of advantages, such as skins.
Initially, hero mastery will become available for a couple of heroes, but we should see it for the rest shortly. Of course, this will happen only if it turns out to be successful.
Keep in mind that we also expect to see hero progression, which will be different than hero mastery. This thing should resemble the levels we had in Overwatch 1, which Blizzard decided to remove in Overwatch 2 for some reason.
New Map – Flashpoint Suravasa
In addition to everything else mentioned in the game, Season 6 of Overwatch 2 will also have a new map called Flashpoint. We know some information about it from KarQ again because the player got to test the new map. According to him, the map itself is massive and has quick pacing, which is good news for players who do not like matches that last longer.
Interestingly, the points tick faster than in the Control maps, and the map itself feels like it has a snowballing effect, where winning one fight can result in winning the game.
Like all new maps, this one may receive small tweaks once it becomes available.
Balance changes
Last but not least, Season 6 of Overwatch 2 will also include a wide range of buffs and nerfs. We expect to see a lot of balance changes because some of the top-tier heroes right now have been in this position for a while, so they need to be changed.
We know for a fact that Sombra will be one of the heroes that will be reworked, which is probably not a surprise to most of you. She was one of the best DPS heroes in the game, but the many nerfs made her almost impossible to play.
Roadhog is another hero that we expect to be reworked because he is also nowhere to be found in the current meta. We can also expect to see buffs of Lifeweaver and many other things.
