Here are some of the Overwatch 2 Season 5 expectations and why we think this will be one of the most interesting seasons yet.
The fact that some people decided to stop playing Overwatch 2 in the last couple of weeks probably doesn’t come as a surprise. Blizzard’s decision to cancel the PVE mode resulted in a massive community backlash. In the end, many people decided to quit, but those that are staying will soon have access to Overwatch 2 Season 5.
Season 4 is slowly coming to an end, meaning that you have just a couple of weeks left to reach Grandmaster while using some of the best heroes in the game. Even though this isn’t easy, it is something you can do, assuming you focus on the best picks.
With that said, we have a lot of expectations for Overwatch 2 Season 5, especially after Blizzard announced the cancelation of the PVE mode. Some people from the community think that the company will make it up by offering a lot more things. So, let’s learn more about the Season 5 expectations and what we think will happen.

General Information
Before diving into some of the more interesting things about Overwatch 2 Season 5, it’s time to take a look at some general information. The first and most important thing you need to know about this season is its starting date. According to the information, Season 5 should start on June 13 2023.
In case you have forgotten, Blizzard shared information a couple of months ago where the company said that it will release different new things depending on the season. In other words, we won’t be getting the same new things all the time, meaning that Season 5 of Overwatch 2 won’t give us access to a new hero.
The odds-numbered season (S5 falls into it), should give us access to new maps. The last one was Antarctic Peninsula, and it became available in Season 3, meaning that we should see a new one in just a couple of weeks.
However, if we take a look at Blizzard’s roadmap, we can see that there is no indication of a new map. Instead, we can see new cinematics, events, and other kinds of things. Of course, it’s possible that Blizzard will release a new map and surprise its fans. That said, some people believe that we will see a new map, as well as a new hero once Season 6 arrives, which will be in late summer-early autumn.
If what we’ve said turns out to be true, it means that the Season 5 expectations should be pretty low because we won’t see that many new things. However, there are several things that deserve more attention.
Questwatch
One of the new things that are confirmed to arrive in Overwatch 2 Season 5 is a new event called Questwatch. Although we do not know that much information about it, the latter should be a limited-time event. Furthermore, according to the artwork, it seems like it will feature an open map where people may have access to things like levels, items, and more.
The Season 5 expectations behind this event are a lot because Blizzard needs to offer something special, especially if it decides not to release a new map. Of course, we’re yet to see what will happen, so make sure to follow us for more information.
Mischief & Magic
The second new thing we should see in Overwatch 2 Season 5 is Mischief & Magic. There have been a lot of rumors around this because if we take a look at the roadmap, we can assume that it will be a separate event. However, a closer look at the photo reveals that it has the mage tower from Questwatch in it. Consequently, this may be an event within an event, which is something we haven’t seen so far.
New Battlepass & Skins
It will be interesting to see the kinds of things we will be able to get from the Questwatch. When talking about Season 5 expectations, we think other will be a lot of new skins, and since the Questwatch event seems like an MMO, we wouldn’t be surprised if Valve decides to include skins from World of Warcraft.
While on the topic of skins, we also have to share some words about the Overwatch 2 Season 5 Battle Pass. Like the other ones, the latter will allow us to complete all kinds of quests and get different things for them. Of course, the Battle Pass will also give us access to a mythical skin, but we’re yet to see which hero will be “the chosen one”.
Interestingly, the last couple of heroes with Mythical skin fit in the season's lore pretty well. If that’s the case, Rein or Brigitte may be the characters that will get this season’s skins, but we’re yet to see what will happen.
Cinematic Reveal
Another new thing we expect to see in Overwatch 2 Season 5 is the new cinematic. Even though we’re not quite sure what it will be based on, the puppy in the thumbnail indicates that it will most likely be related to Sojourn. In case you have forgotten, Blizzard shared some details about this cinematic more than one year ago, so it will be cool to see it in action finally.
Summer Games
Like in Overwatch 1, Overwatch 2 will also give us access to one of the fan-favorite events – Summer Games. Most people who had Season 5 expectations didn’t know whether the latter will become a reality because there were rumors that it won’t be a part of the game. However, it seems like this won’t be the case.
Other things
Besides everything mentioned so far, Overwatch 2 Season 5 will also offer us a 5v5 mini-comp season, a creator workshop mode. It will be fun to see what will happen, so make sure to follow us for more information about Overwatch 2.
