Overwatch 2 Moira Hero Guide

Her name is Moira, and we are about to learn more about her in this article.

This Overwatch 2 Moira guide will cover everything you need to know about the hero, including the changes in the new game. Those who played the beta may remember that Moira was powerful. However, Blizzard decided to remove her new ability and return her old one.

Despite the changes, Moira remains one of the best Overwatch 2 supports, so let’s learn more about her.

Overview

As mentioned, Moira was one of the few Overwatch 2 heroes that received big changes in the beta. However, after playing for a while, the game devs decided to give her back her two orbs and tweak some of the existing abilities.

Now that Overwatch 2 is available, people who pick Moira will self-heal with her BioticGrasp for 20 per second instead of 24 per second. Moira’s Fade ability now has a 7s cooldown instead of 6s, and her Healing Orn heals up to 250 instead of 300. Lastly, Moira also benefits from the new Overwatch 2 support passive ability that gives her extra HP regen.

As you can see, this is among the few heroes that received a lot of nerfs. Moira is still very strong, but the hero doesn't heal as much as before, and her escape mechanism has one extra second of cooldown. In other words, people have to be more careful when playing.

Balancing your healing and damage is key

One of the most important things to remember when you decide to learn how to play Moira is that you have to balance between healing and doing damage. This sounds easy on paper, but most people do not know how to do that. Hence, they end up doing too much damage and no healing.

No secret formula will allow you to learn how to heal and damage the right way. You have to pay attention to your teammates and enemies and decide when it is the right time for an aggressive move.

Speaking of being aggressive, we must remind you that Moira’s Fade now has one extra second CD. Consequently, people who want to make risky moves have to be careful because they may not be able to escape when needed.

Learn how to use your orbs

Moira is not your typical Overwatch 2 support hero. She is not that easy to play and requires you to be really innovative, especially when it comes down to using your orbs. That’s one of the reasons why this Overwatch 2 Moira guide wants to remind you that you need to practice.

One of the critical things to remember about Moira’s orbs is that they can go through shields and barriers. This can be incredibly strong when it comes down to doing damage and healing.

Speaking of doing damage, the hero’s damage orb can (and the other one) can bounce off walls. So, if you learn how to use them properly, you can trap your enemies and kill them in no time.

Use Fade to dodge certain abilities

Fade is a critical ability for Moira because it is the only tool she can escape when she is out of position. Despite that, many people waste their ability and don’t know how to take advantage of it.

Aside from your normal usage when you need to run or be aggressive, you can actually use Fade to dodge certain abilities. Like Reaper’s Wraith Form, you can use Fade when playing against heroes like Ana, Junkrat, and all sorts of other options and dodge some of their abilities.

Even though this will take a lot of time, it will be worth it because your opponents won’t have anything to kill you after that. Don’t forget that Moira can be pretty dangerous in close-range combat, especially when her opponent cannot escape.

Another critical thing to remember about Fade is that the ability can no longer save you from some ults, such as the one from Zarya and Sigma. This is a huge nerf because Moira players have to be more careful than before about their positioning.

Position yourself behind your team when using your ult

Every Overwatch 2 ultimate is strong, and Moira’s is not an exception. When used, the hero starts channeling a beam that heals and deals damage. Some heroes underestimate it, but Moira can kill almost any target in seconds, which means her ult is really strong.

That said, one of the things you should remember after reading this Overwatch 2 Moira guide is that you should position yourself behind your teammates when using this ability. Doing this will allow you to heal them and do damage because the beam will pierce them and hit your opponents.

This might be easier said than done, but it will definitely help when your team is dying, and you need to do some pressure to turn around a given team fight.

Combos

Moira is a hero who can work in a couple of setups. However, unlike other Overwatch 2 supports, you can’t pair her with everything and excerpt her to work. On the contrary. Most people only get Moira when their draft allows them to stack close to each other. This is ideal for the Overwatch 2 support because she can use her powerful AoE healing and deal insane amounts of damage.

Interestingly, Moira works well with the newest Overwatch 2 tank Junker Queen. The latter has to be aggressive to survive, allowing Moira to heal her from the backlines and help her with the damage.
