Overwatch 2 Baptiste Hero Guide

Check out our latest Overwatch 2 hero guide for everything you need to know to play Baptiste!

Let’s face it, the support role has never been as popular as DPS or Tank in Overwatch. Even though this is also true for Overwatch 2, it seems like playing support now is more fun than ever before. That’s why we’ve decided to make a complete Overwatch 2 Baptiste guide.

Baptiste is probably the most underrated support in the lower-rated competitive matchmaking. He is arguably the best support right now and can make a real difference for his team. What’s also impressive is that he is among the few supports capable of significantly damaging his opponents.

But which are the things that make Baptiste so good, and how to play with him? We hope to give you all of the answers you need in the subsequent paragraphs of this review. Don’t forget to check the classic Baptiste guide because this is not one of the new Overwatch 2 heroes.

Overview

Baptiste is among the heroes in Overwatch 2 that received considerably more changes than others. However, instead of nerfs, the hero seems stronger than ever before, which reflects on his popularity.

Speaking of changes, the first one is to his primary fire, which now deals 25 instead of 24 damage. Some people underestimate Baptiste’s damage output, but he is a hero that can easily bring down any DPS or Support in seconds. In addition to the extra damage, his damage falloff is also up to 25 meters (it was 20 before).

Baptiste’s burst healing now heals all allies by 100 instead of 75, and his Biotic Launcher’s secondary fire mode has 13 rounds instead of 10. As a result, the hero heals substantially more than before.

Tip – Baptiste is probably the best hero against dive combos

Every Overwatch 2 player knows that there are all kinds of combos that players can choose from. That said, many of them focus on the “dive” ones because they are enjoyable to play. As their name suggests, the idea behind this combo is to dive into the enemy team and deal enough damage to kill them.

Unsurprisingly, some heroes can deal with these combos, whereas others have huge problems. The good news is that Baptiste belongs to the first group, and we can even say that he is among the best heroes against this setup.

He excels for many reasons, but the main one is his Immortality Field. Although many players underestimate it, this is undoubtedly one of the strongest abilities in the game. However, the only way to take advantage of it is if you know how to use it.

One of the big mistakes that Baptiste players make is to use it at the beginning of the fight. This is never a good idea because enemy heroes will make sure to kill it right away, meaning you won’t get any value from it. As a result, it is better to hold on to it and use it when someone is about to die. Even though enemies will most likely bring it down, you can save yourself or your teammate and heal up, which is more than enough.

Unsurprisingly, Immortality Field is one of the best counters to heroes like D.Va because you can survive through her ult.

Tip – Using your Immortality Field

We’ve shared a lot of details about this ability in the previous paragraph, but there are other things we’d like to share about it in this Overwatch 2 Baptiste guide. The most important one is related to its positioning. Once you use it, this thing will become your enemy’s primary target. What’s even more annoying is that it is placed above the heroes, making it easy to kill.

To avoid wasting it (keep in mind that this is one of the Overwatch 2 abilities with the longest cooldown!), try using it behind a pillar. Alternatively, you should try to place it in a way that will prevent the enemy from attacking it right away. Doing this will allow you to make the most of this item and save yourself or your allies.

Of course, you should position this ability in a way that will allow it to work. This means that your allies should have LoS on it. This makes it a bit more complicated, but once you learn how to play Baptiste, you will eventually get used to it.

Tip – Your ultimate is overpowered

Every ultimate in Overwatch 2 is good, but Baptiste’s is on another level, as long as you know how to use it correctly. When you put it on the ground, the ult will double the damage and healing of you and your allies. In other words, you can kill any hero in seconds or heal your team, including your tank, in no time.

The tricky part with Baptiste’s ult is to know when to use it. Many people decide to go for it as soon as it is available, but this is not always a good idea. To make the most of it, you have to use it when your enemies have no way to hide. In other words, placing your ult when the enemy team is pushing in the open will almost always guarantee you the win because they can’t handle the damage.

Combos

Considering that Baptiste has one of the best ults in Overwatch 2, it shouldn’t be surprising that he works with all sorts of heroes. He is one of the most versatile supports in the game, mainly because of his passive ability to jump really high and escape from danger.

One of the popular combos in this Overwatch 2 Baptiste guide we’d like to point out is the one between him and heroes like Soldier and Sojourn. These two do a lot of damage on their own, so you can imagine what it’s like to go up against them when they use Baptiste’s ult.

Baptiste also works well with tanks that do not have a barrier, such as Junker Queen and Orisa, for example. Besides the fact that he can heal them, his Immortality Field can save them when needed, which will give him enough time to get them back up.
