Overwatch 2 has been a prime example of being a massive letdown since its launch. Overwatch 2 enraged their fanbase by banning players for swearing while playing the game.
Overwatch 2 has been a letdown for gamers since it launched. The game has failed to deliver on its promises in every corner. The game is a remake of the massively popular Overwatch. The game was supposed to have a campaign built into it. The game infamously announced they would no longer bring campaigns to the game. The game has been on a losing streak since making bad decisions. Overwatch 2 has been losing players for a long time and currently has a 2/10 on Steam.
Overwatch 2 gained smoke recently for banning players from swearing in the text chat in the game. Fans and gamers have been enraged due to this decision but Blizzard, Overwatch 2’s developers, is firmly standing their ground.
Overwatch 2 Bans Players for Swearing
Blizzard cracked down on Overwatch 2 players for swearing in-game. The situation was brought to light when a collegiate Overwatch player was banned from the game for typing “f*ck” and “sh*t” in the game’s chat. The ban ended the player’s career as the derby he was removed from would be his last tournament from college. Twitter user Derby82 brought this to everyone’s attention when he posted the issue. He immediately contacted customer support as he was confused as to what caused the ban. His customer service rep stated he was banned for using profanity in the text chat of the game.

The decision by the developers has brought outrage to the game’s community. Many players critiqued the decision by stating the game has a profanity filter for the chat. The game knows players will swear and therefore has a filter that would block the profanity for people who do not want to see the usage of swear words.
Gamers also critiqued Overwatch 2 for being a “T” rated game. The game already has some swear words within the characters. One of the characters also has the abbreviation “BAMF” on their belt which expands to “Bad *ss Mother F*cker”. The game is therefore highly hypocritical for banning something that they are actively a part of.
Blizzard is firmly standing by their decision. They claim to be a safe space for gamers and therefore will not allow players to belittle one another. They however do not realize that the game is ironically making the game a worse place for gamers as they cannot even speak their mind.
