Overwatch 2: 5 Heroes You’re Not Using Properly

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 is just around the corner, which means it's the best time to take a good look at the heroes you need to scrub up on!

We are all slowly but steadily preparing for the upcoming Season 2 of Overwatch 2. The game’s developers revealed that we would have access to a lot of new things, including a new hero. That said, many players will continue using their “mains” so that they can reach their desired rank as soon as possible.

Speaking of mains, people use all sorts of heroes and spend hundreds of hours playing. Naturally, many of them think that they know the ins and outs of the given hero and how to make the most of them. This might be true in some cases, but some people have no idea what they’re doing.

We want to help everyone reach their goals in Season 2 of OW 2, so it s time to look at a couple of popular heroes that most players are not using properly. Hopefully, the tips provided in this article will come in handy.

In our previous articles, we’ve mentioned a couple of times that Lucio is one of the hottest heroes in Overwatch 2. In fact, many people consider him S-Tier support, meaning that you see him all the time. However, considering that he is among the hardest heroes to master, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that many people have no idea how to use him properly.

Besides not using movement potential, most players make the mistake of focusing too much on healing their allies instead of providing movement and doing damage. Even though there are many situations where the team need heals, Lucio is definitely not a heal bot and has to focus on all sorts of other things. He is excellent at chasing down certain heroes and can secure kills with his BOOP.

Focusing on your movement speed is almost always a good idea because it will make you and your team much harder to kill. You can escape, push, and do all sorts of things, so definitely keep that in mind. Lucio is not a healing bot, so don’t listen to what others are saying, even if they flame you. They will thank you later.

It is safe to say that Genji is one of the most popular Overwatch 2 heroes and a name that you can find in any skill bracket. Some players are beasts with him and can carry their team with little to no effort. Sadly, most Genji players are not like that and often struggle because they don’t know what to do.

For some reason, lower-rated Genji players believe that their hero is immortal. So, instead of flanking and poking, they often go in and try to land a fast headshot that will allow them to kill someone. Unsurprisingly, this never happens, and most Genji players die right away because the enemies focus on them.

We won’t go into detail about how to play Genji because this is a topic for another day. However, if you decide to be the start of the show and jump in right away, you have to remember to use your deflect properly. Many people are waiting for it assuming they will use it against 5 heroes and kill 2 of them. Needless to say, this never happens.

Most Overwatch 2 players know that Widowmaker is one of the most complex heroes in the game and requires to hit headshots to be effective. Nevertheless, some people assume that they can be effective even if they focus on tanks and their barries. Unsurprisingly, this is one of the biggest mistakes in Overwatch 2 and something that can have an impact on the entire team.

Widowmakers who think they can deal with tanks usually can’t do much and have almost 0 damage throughout the game. Sure, Widow can land a kill on a tank, but the hero has to be on Low HP, and he has to have no shield. Instead of wasting your time landing a kill on a target that has tons of HP, it is better to focus on bringing down the supports and DPS.

A good Widowmaker will learn how to land headshots and carry her team to victory. So, if you want to be among the best, make sure you practice as much as possible.

Even though Kiriko is one of the new heroes in Overwatch 2, she’s been around for 2 months now, meaning that people got the chance to play with her a lot. Some of them are good and know what they’re doing, but most players have no clue how to be effective.

One of the common mistakes made by Kiriko players is to focus on damage. For some reason, certain people only do damage and forget that they must heal. That said, there are also players who only focus on healing and don’t do any damage. Unsurprisingly, this is also not a good idea because this hero needs to do damage to be effective.

The fact that Kiriko is still new to the game means that some people haven’t had the chance to play with her a lot. We expect most Overwatch 2 players to learn how to utilize her properly in the future.

Despite the nerfs that she received in Overwatch 2, Echo is a hero that can make a real difference. She is not that hard to play and is capable of doing insane amounts of damage, meaning that players who main her often carry their teams. That said, not everyone is taking full advantage of her capabilities because some people play too aggressively.

Echo is a hero that shines when she can see poak and do damage from a distance. Her standard attack and Sticky Bombs are more than enough to land a kill. However, some players are too offensive and want to jump in and finish a target with their beam right away. As you can probably guess, this often has bad consequences because Echo is fragile, and enemies can kill her in seconds.

Of course, there are situations where you can play more aggressively and even dive into your opponents. It all depends on the setup you have and the heroes you’re facing.
