Naughty Dog, ID Software, and Activision Vets Have Started up game studio emptyvessel

Call it emptyvessel, but this new game dev studio has a full boat of talented veterans. There's a new shooter specialist on the scene!

In a year that has so far been full of many game industry layoffs, already more in Q1 2024 than Q1-Q4 2023, it's nice to be able to spread some good news. That's why I'm happy that a game industry veteran has started up a new indie game development studio: emptyvessel.

Former iD Software veterans Emanuel Palalic and Garrett Young have started up emptyvessel, an independent Triple AAA studio focusing on immersive shooters. They coined the name by likening the studio to an empty vessel that will soon fill with its employees and a dedicated gaming community.

Emptyvessel prioritizes creativity, innovation, and independence when crafting its games to offer gamers authentic and enjoyable experiences. And they've certainly got the team to make that happen.

Along with Emanuel Palalic and Garrett Young, Emptyvessel consists of industry vets who have worked on games like Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein, and Killing Floor. Emptyvessel has teased its first title, which sounds like it may be a Sci-Fi shooter with cyberpunk & dystopian elements thrown in. Emptyvessel hopes to reveal more details about their debut title soon.
