Here is everything you need to know about Team Gunfight in MW3

Modern Warfare 3 is on a roll with a steady pace of new content added to the game. Ever since the CODMAS event during Christmas of 2023, the developers for the latest CoD game have been hard at work, constantly keeping the game updated with new content for the community. Everything from new events, operators, weapons, and even Season 1 Reloaded dropped with tons of new stuff for players to check out. Alongside Season 1 Reloaded, Activision released a new game mode called Team Gunfight to debut in the game. Considering how much a fan-favorite the regular Gunfight mode was, it’s a pretty safe bet to hope that Team Gunfight will be similar.

So let's look at everything we know about Team Gunfight and determine the best strategies to win every game.

Team Gunfight in MW3

Team Gunfight is a revamped version of regular Gunfight, which was first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. The game was a 2v2 fight, where one team had to eliminate the other within 40 seconds to win. If no team emerges victorious within the time frame, then an Overtime Flag appears for 10 seconds and whoever captures that flag wins. If no one can capture the flag within 10 seconds, then the team with the most total health will be given the victory. The first team to win 6 rounds wins the whole thing.

Players can’t access their loadouts in this mode. At the start of every round, a random pre-determined loadout will be given to all players in the match and everyone will get the same one. The loadouts will be randomly selected before the round begins. There will also be no health regeneration and all throwable utility except for the Throwing Knife will be disabled until 5 seconds have passed till the start of the round.

The Team Gunfight mode bears all the features as the regular Gunfight mode, except it will be 6v6. This will drastically change the way the game mode is played. Even though the core of the mode will be the same, the larger teams will make the matches more chaotic and add denser layers to gameplay. Aspects like communication, teamwork and utility usage will be more important than ever to come out on top.

How to Play

The game mode can be played by updating your game through Steam or Battle.net and getting the new Season 1 Reloaded content. Follow the steps mentioned below to play the mode:

  1. Open Steam or Battle.net on PC.
  2. Get the Season 1 Reloaded Update in the game.
  3. Log in by entering your credentials.
  4. Click on the 6v6 Team Gunfight game mode and queue up to get in a lobby.
  5. Once a lobby is found you will deploy in the map with your team and the match will begin shortly.

Maps

The game mode will feature all standard multiplayer maps that are currently in the game and also have some new ones that have been added recently. We can also expect Activision to add more maps in the future to keep the map pool diverse. Here are the maps currently available for the mode:

Tactics

The new mode will increase the player's dependency on more strategic and tactical aspects. Teamwork and communication will be vital to yielding victory in a match as the increased number of players in a team makes it quite difficult to find success alone. Therefore it is advised to talk with your teammates and relay information to establish synergetic plays. A team that can coordinate their movement across the map can effectively win rounds without much trouble even if they are weaker individually.

Besides cooperating with your teammates, a few other things that you should keep in mind that may be quite helpful during Team Gunfight is figuring out patterns. This will be quite difficult in the new mode because of the increased number of players, but it is a smart move to obverse the enemy for a few rounds and figure out their plays. It is quite easy to spot one or two players who are doing the same thing or moving to the same spot every round. Having that information can be very beneficial in punishing their move and giving your team an advantage.

Due to the larger teams in this mode, players will need to switch up their play and evolve as the match goes on. It is important to keep your enemy guessing on where you will be going now or what your play is going to be. The more they remain in the dark, the less prepared they will be to counter your play.
