The newest fighting game from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, ‘Multiversus’ has set new records on the first day of the open beta launch.
With a roster that pits Batman against NBA star LeBron James, the brawler contains characters from many universes spread out across many other media entities owned by Warner Bros. Besides launching on PC, the game is now available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, and PS5. The free-to-play title offers crossplay and cross-progressive systems on every platform and is available to play in the Americas, Australia, Europe, and New Zealand as yet. The game currently includes a stacked roster of 17 characters and offers 9 maps and 8 game modes.
Multiversus might have just become the most played fighting game in recorded history. Without console numbers and several servers currently down. Might be closer to 200k with all platforms.

The F2P fighting game has not only set records on the PC platform, but for the publisher itself, Multiversus marks as the most successful title ever released by WB Games. The game generated more day 1 peak players than the publisher's popular fighting titles, Injustice, and Mortal Kombat. The game also shattered viewership records held by other fighting games on Twitch, amassing a peak viewership of 183.3k viewers on July 27, according to Streamscharts.
With almost 8 million watch hours on Twitch, the WB Games title set new viewership records earlier held by popular fighting titles Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Brawlhalla, and Tekken 7. The data gathered from Gamesight shows the new title taking the top spot in terms of watch hours and viewership over the last 7 days. It was obvious that the game would generate numbers, as the closed alpha previously recorded 60,000+ concurrent players. Also, according to statistics from Steam, the new brawler currently stands as the fourth most popular title on the PC platform.
With plans for a global release soon, the game is available to play in specific countries and is developed by Player First Games. The open beta for the game is now live as of Tuesday, July 26. There is still no specific date for the open beta to end, but WB suggests that the game will “continue to get updated with new characters, maps, seasonal content, and more in the months ahead.”
