LoL: Wild Rift’s Open Beta Comes to America this March

After players around the globe have been testing the mobile version of League of Legends, it’s finally time for those in America to get their hands on it.

Releasing in Open Beta on March 29, this latest release will see Wild Rift released across America, putting the game in the hands of potentially millions more players. The game will be available across the region:

  • Brazil
  • México
  • Chile
  • United States
  • Argentina
  • Canada
  • Colombia
  • Perú

The game has been out since the end of 2020 across most other regions of the world, with the Americas the major expectation. As of March 29, the region will join the rest of the globe is heading to the Wild Rift.

Wild Rift Details

The game is a standalone product from the PC version. That means no cross-play or cross-progression. The good news is, however, that Wild Rift can be self-contained and have its own unique style. Some rewards will be granted for LoL PC players, though these have not yet been announced.

Specs for the game have changed slightly since beta. With the release, the game now requires a four-core chipset for Android and 1280×720. Over on iPhone, you’ll need an iPhone 7 or above as of now to get the game running. The original specs for the game had been lower, and might still be when the game is released and fully optimized.

With the game being built for mobile, it will feature a dual-stick control layout. While not also the most popular, it does feel like the most logical solution for a game like Lol. The system has also had success with other mobile MOBA titles. The game's abilities will also be slightly tweaked, with Ezrael’s and Ashe’s ultimate becoming point-and-click skills rather than long-range skill shots. Though for the most part, the game will remain the same as on PC.
