LoL: Team Dignitas Resign Dardoch as Starting Jungler for 2021

While the preseason madness is yet to start, Team Dignitas has been quick to lock up their jungler before it does.

Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett will be returning to Team Dignitas ahead of the 2021 season. Dardoch joined Dignitas in May 2020 in a trade deal from TSM. He originally left TSM after President of TSM Leena Xu was caught on Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng's Twitch stream saying that “no one wants to pick up Dardoch.” Dardoch’s original contract was due to expire on the free agency window on November 17.

Dardoch is always a divisive figure in the LCS. Often seen as one of the best jungler in the league, his style and attitude in-game and around his teammates has sometimes rubbed people up the wrong way. However, if he’s able to find a team that gels well (which we assume he has with Dignitas) then Dardoch can likely be a star player for his side. Though Dignitas will likely be hoping the side has a better year in 2021 than this did this past 12 months.

Finishing eighth in the regular season, Team Dignitas was dumped out of playoffs by TSM in a 3-0 thrashing. While the full 2021 roster is not known, only one other member of the 2020 starting roster, Omran “V1per” Shoura has a contract that will expire this year. It’s possible that Academy top laner Samson “Lourlo” Jackson could come in for him in the starting roster.

A busy offseason

With Worlds 2020 and the free agency window a month away. Dignitas has sprung the second change in the LCS thus far. With Cloud9’s sale of Licorice for Academy player Fudge the other notable move in the LCS so far.

It’s been slightly quieter so far in Europe, however, Misfits has picked up a new Director in Martin “Deficio” Lynge. His former side Origen has had a change of name ahead of the 2021 season as they’ll be reverting to the name of their holding company, Astralis going forward.
