Excel has signed Mikyx from G2 Esports just two weeks into the Spring Split.
It wasn't a move on people's LEC bingo card, but just two weeks into the LEC split, Excel has made a change. Having won two matches so far in the LEC, Excel has become the first roster to make a change. Mikyx has been free to move away from G2 all pre-season; though, G2 had allegedly been asking too high of a fee for sides to take the chance. Mikyx spend over 3 years with G2 Esports, picking up multiple LEC titles and an MSI title in the process. Pending Riot approval, Mikyx will link up with Excel this week, and they'll need him to make an instant impact if they want to improve.
Speaking about the move, Mikyx said;” Joined Excel, and I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity. Big thanks to all the players and coaching staff I have worked with for the past 3 years and all the unforgettable memories we had!”

Excel bench rookie Advienne
Sadly, a new arrival often means a player is replaced. For Excel, that means rookie Dutch support, Advienne has been benched by Excel. Excel haven't made an announcement about his future, however, Advienne released a statement about what's next;
“As I’m writing this, I’m not sure how to feel. On Sunday I’ve been told by the management of Excel that I was to be replaced by Mikyx. After just 2 weeks of play in the Spring Split, for the upcoming week of the LEC and the rest of the LEC onwards. This decision was taken by the management only, without any open dialogue with my (now ex) teammates or any heads up to me prior to the decision already being made. This decision, as I’m told, is NOT made based on performance issues, motivation issues, issues with regards to my personality or anything in/out of game related. It is purely a business decision.” You can read Advienne's full statement here.
Advienne remains contracted with Excel until November 2022. However, he's actively seeking new challenges, so it's unlikely we see him play in the Excel Academy roster. While we understand that a player like MIkyx is a huge improvement, it's impossible not to feel that Advienne has been hard done by. Just two weeks into his LEC career, he's been removed from the active roster. We hope he can find a place on a roster soon; and you'd like to think Excel don't stand in his way. Though, this early in the split, it's unlikely we see another roster swap.
