LEC Super Week Day 3 Summer Split 2022 Recap

Week one of the LEC is here, and it's starting with a Super Week. Here's our LEC Super Week Day 3 recap.

Check out our Power Rankings for the LEC (or LCS) if you want to get a look at our thoughts.

Misfits Gaming v Astralis

msf ast ss 22

1-1 thus far, AST could make a statement with a second win of the weekend. As for MSF, at 0-2 so far, it was important they walked away with a win. First blood was secured for MSF, though it was immediately traded back for AST. MSF managed to get a grip on things, with a four kill, 1k lead by just the 7-minute mark. Not to be left behind, however, AST quickly fired back with a big team fight win and a Rift Herald. MSF continued to fall behind, with AST sitting at a 2.3k lead by the 15-minute mark. They just couldn't catch a break on the Rift, as MSF lost another four members to AST who were starting to run away with the game. With Baron on the Rift, the time was now for MSF to make a play to stop AST from closing this one out. The Baron was secured with MSF able to contest, they looked for a fight anyway but it was AST who came away on top. Knocking down three members of MSF for one in return.

AST set up to play around with the next Baron, as they look to finally end the suffering of MSF. With that claimed, AST flooded into the MSF base and the game was over.

Quick Stats:

  • Teams: MSF – AST
  • Time: 32:21
  • Kills: 12-21
  • Turrets: 3-9
  • Gold: 53.6k – 62.4k
  • Dragons: 1-3
  • Barons: 0-2

Team Vitality v Team BDS

BDS VITt ss 22

After a 0-2 record thus far, BDS needed to get on the board. A 1-1 start for VIT who couldn't slip up here. A slow early game saw neither side pick up a kill in the first 10-minutes, with nothing separating them. It was BDS who eventually broke the deadlock, picking up first blood and a slender gold lead. Into the mid-game, BDS slowly started to pull away. Moving to a 2k lead by the 17-minute mark. Another fight, and another collapse from VIT as they continued to fight on the back foot. BDS increased their lead to 5k with Baron about to spawn.  It finally looked like VIT would get something, but BDS were able to knock them back. BDS' lead was shrunk to 4.2k, but they remained in the lead. A shock play for VIT, who managed to steal away the Baron from under the nose of BDS. The mistake could well cause BDS to drop the game. The collapse from BDS had begun, as they failed to stop VIT since they claimed the Baron. A fight broke out in the bot lane, and while it looked to be going the way of BDS, Perkz had snuck into the BDS base. With help from his Support, Perkz was able to solo the Nexus and secure a huge win for VIT.

Quick Stats:

  • Teams: BDS – VIT
  • Time: 31:25
  • Kills: 11-9
  • Turrets: 4-9
  • Gold: 55.8k – 57.7k
  • Dragons: 2-3
  • Barons: 0-1

SK Gaming v Fnatic

SK FNC ss 22

Two sides sitting at 1-1, as SK look to take down the might of FNC. A great start by SK, picking up early first blood and putting FNC on the back foot. FNC did pick up a kill shortly after. The next 10-minutes were quiet, with just 3 kills picked up by the 15-minute mark. A big fight at the Drake went the way of SK as they got a lead. The next fight went the way of FNC, with Baron on the Rift, they looked for a way to close out the mid-game. FNC found a way into the SK base and it was a situation they couldn't deal with. FNC broke into the base and ended it in swift passion.

Quick Stats:

  • Teams: SK – FNC
  • Time: 26:37
  • Kills: 4-11
  • Turrets: 4-8
  • Gold: 44.3k – 52.5k
  • Dragons: 2-2
  • Barons: 0-1

G2 Esports v Excel Esports

G2 Xl ss 22

Two of the 2-0 sides met on day 3 after XL picked up a huge upset victory against FNC on day 2. It was first blood G2 here, as they looked to get an early lead. By the 15-minute mark, G2 went into cruise control as they secured a 3.5k lead over XL. The next win came at the 20-minute Drake, as G2 stole it away from XL along with their hopes of coming back. G2 pulled ahead with a 7k lead. G2 continued to go through the motions towards victory, as XL looked out of ideas. With Baron still on the Rift a win condition was in play. By 32-minutes, G2 had a 10k lead but had not found a way to pull the trigger on a Baron or big team fight. Thankfully, just a minute later they did find the opening, taking down three members of XL as they pushed into the base. G2 opted to leave after claiming two inhibitors with XL left licking their wounds.

It took until the 35th minute but G2 finally claimed a Baron, as they prepared for another push into XL's base. The Baron and Soul Drake were enough for G2 to look to end the game. Despite the 37-minute run time, it was a painfully one-sided game.

Quick Stats:

  • Teams: G2 – XL
  • Time: 37:21
  • Kills: 25-4
  • Turrets:9-2
  • Gold: 74.8k – 57.5k
  • Dragons: 4-2
  • Barons: 1-0

MAD Lions v Rogue

MAD RGE ss 22

RGE has somehow found themselves at 0-2 after the first two days of the LEC. Meanwhile, MAD was looking to go 3-0 in the Super Week. A double first blood over to MAD, as it's a nightmare start for RGE. A more methodical mid-game for MAD, as by the 20-minute mark they'd secured just a 1k lead over RGE. A Baron next up for MAD as they stole it away from RGE who were looking to snatch it. RGE flee the area with their tails between their legs as MAD put their mark on this game. With Baron, the lead is extended to 5k as MAD broke the first inhibitor in the RGE base. RGE looked to make a hail-mary play around the Elder Drake and MAD couldn't stop them. Somehow RGE was able to flip the game on its head as MAD completely threw the game off a 50/50 Elder Drake.

Quick Stats:

  • Teams:  MAD – RGE
  • Time: 30:06
  • Kills: 9-7
  • Turrets: 7-8
  • Gold: 55.3k – 58.4k
  • Dragons: 4-1
  • Barons: 1-0
