TSM is ready for summer with its new roster.
TSM announced today that its LCS roster is complete and ready for summer. Most notably, Mingyi “Spica” Lu has been brought up from Academy and is the new starting jungler. This was crucial, as the team traded Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett to Dignitas yesterday. The other change TSM made during this break was picking up Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng from Team Liquid. Although this acquisition was controversial, it is huge for TSM, who clearly wants to retake the LCS throne.
The new roster
Other than Spica and Doublelift, the roster is still the same, which bodes well for the team. It is as follows:
- Top Lane: Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik
- Jungle: Mingyi “Spica” Lu
- Mid Lane: Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg
- AD Carry: Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng
- Support: Vincent “Biofrost” Wang
On paper, this roster looks great. They have three members that were part of the era TSM dominated, but with two other promising members. Broken Blade has now been with the team for a while too, and though he wasn't with TSM in the glory days, he's proven himself to be a fantastic player. The only real concern here is with Spica then. He played with the team for a brief time last year but didn't find that much success.
Fortunately, the organization and his teammates seem to believe in him. In fact, Bjergsen himself commented on Spica's promotion:
“Super excited to play with Spica and seeing what he can do with an opportunity starting in LCS. I saw a lot of potential in him when he subbed in for us in the 2019 playoffs, but there just wasn't enough time for him to fully integrate and find his own voice in the team. This time he will.”
Only time will tell how this roster does, but expectations are high for them. Fans will be eager to see if this squad can reclaim glory and dominate the LCS once again.
