The Jester is a dangerous creature that can be found inside buildings that you need to explore to collect scraps for sale on different moons. This creature can be found only on the high-level moons as it is a very lethal creature with a percentage of 0% on Sigurd’s danger level scale. It is a weird-looking creature that appears to be a jack in the box with two humanoid legs and an arm sticking out from one side. They generally pop up out of nowhere inside buildings.

Though it might seem like a passive creature initially, it definitely is not. This creature has 3 states when you encounter it: Boxed/Passive, Cranking/Unwinding and Chasing/Killing. All 3 of the states that the Jester goes through are explained below:

Boxed/Passive State

In this state, the Jester will initially just approach players and follow them around, shadowing their movements. It will do so persistently for a brief period of about 20 to 40 seconds before advancing to the next state.

Cranking/Unwinding

Remember that one arm sticking out of the side? This is the state where we find out what that arm is used for. Once the 20 to 40-second period is over, the Jester suddenly plays the traditional jack-in-the-box song, “Pop Goes The Weasel.” As the song starts playing, it uses its arm to start unwinding itself out of the box. While cranking itself out of the box, it doesn’t move and continues for somewhere between 35 to 40 seconds. Then, the next and final state arrives.

Chasing/Unwinding

Once the Jester is done unwinding itself out of the box, a massive skeletal head emerges out of the box. When the skeletal head emerges, the creature can start moving again and not only can it start moving, it can do so at an incredible speed, more than the player’s sprinting speed. It will charge at the nearest player to it and begin chasing them until it ends up killing them and moves on to the next target. As it will kill each player, it gains more and more speed. This state will go on until all the players have left the building and do not re-enter for 5 seconds or everyone is dead.

It is an undefeatable creature that cannot be taken down with anything, leaving you with no choice but to run. When you scan the creature, the report simply states “Good luck” indicating that there are no hopes of defeating it whatsoever and the best choice is to escape swiftly. However, escaping might not be as easy as it sounds.

How to successfully escape the Jester

Now, as the Jester is an undefeatable creature, your only option is to abandon your adventure and escape as fast as possible, but how do you successfully escape the creature? You can do it by following a few strategic steps, which are given as follows:

Step 1: Find an escape route

As soon as you encounter this creature, alert your buddies and scope out an escape route immediately. Figure out the shortest way to the exit and get ready to do so before the creature reaches its cranking/unwinding state. Make sure to look out for the indication of that state by keeping your ears open for the song.

Step 2: Start making your way to the exit

After you and your teammates have figured out the shortest route to the exit, start moving immediately as the Jester will keep following you. If you’re not near enough to the exit, get your Zap gun ready to stun the creature. Do not stun it before it reaches the unwinding/cranking state because doing so will increase the timer’s speed by 15 times. If it reaches the cranking/unwinding state, shoot it with the Zap gun, which will temporarily pause it from unwinding itself. Utilize that time wisely and gain as much distance as possible.

Step 3: Run

When you find the exit, run for your lives as fast as possible to your bunker. If you have a TZP-Inhalant, use that as your run to your bunker with your teammates. Pack your stuff up swiftly and leave the moon before the creature catches up to you and annihilates your whole team in a few seconds. You might be asking if the creature can enter your bunker, the answer to that is yes, yes it absolutely can. Hence, pack up quickly and leave the moon with whatever little loot you managed to collect.

Conclusion

Needless to say, the Jester might look like an adorable jack in the box with legs ready to give you a surprise, but it is actually a lethal surprise: death. Hence, make sure to read up on all the information given above about this creature and escape as quickly as possible unless you want to die a painful death.
