How to Get Chocobos in Final Fantasy 16
Getting a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16 is one of the key tasks most players expect early on, but it’s actually locked behind quite a bit of progression in the main quest. You’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the point where you’ve had two major time skips. That’s not as far in as it might seem though, you can get through to that section of the game relatively quickly.
At that point, carry on with the main campaign until you get a specific quest called the Gathering Storm. This is a quest involving you searching out Martha, which is your key to getting Chocobos in Final Fantasy 16.
Progress through this quest until you reach Martha’s Rest. This is a small village. At this point in the game, you’ll likely spot a man outside of the entrance to the Martha’s Rest village named Rowan. Talk to him, he’s the key to learning how to ride Chocobos.
He has another side quest to offer you this time it’s the White Winged Wonder. A group of bandits have been harassing a Chocobo and it’s up to you to stop them. Track them down to the south of where you got the quest, near Crooked Nash’s Pier. Then take down out the guys harassing the mount, this includes a single-target fight with a stronger opponent.
Once that’s done, you’ll learn a little more about Whiteheart, the Chocobo that you’ve saved. In gratitude, it wants to remain with you! That takes care of how to get a Chocobo in FF 16. How to Ride Chocobos in Final Fantasy 16
Once you’ve got a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16, you’re able to ride them whenever you want. It’s pretty easy to actually get on them and start riding around. You just need to press R3. Once you do this, you’ll call your Chocobo over to you. After that, you just need to press X to climb on top of your Chocobo.

That’s easy to perform too, just hold down R2 to get going. it is more difficult to turn and steer while you’re running, but it’s easy to adapt to in the more open area.
