Since its rocky launch, Helldivers 2 has had lots of issues. The recent one is the Helldivers 2 Gameguard Error and here is how to fix the error 360.
Helldivers 2 is the recently released sequel to the 2015 classic, Helldivers, a top-down shooter game. However, the sequel to the original turned out to be a third-person shooter game amongst many other new and exciting things including a very rocky launch.
Having a disastrous launch, the game has been home to lots and lots of bugs, glitches and errors so far. The servers have been constantly down, as Sony is still trying to accommodate the huge number of players trying to play the game.
One of the most common errors that players are facing at present is the Gameguard initialize error or error 360. Hence, here are the ways to fix the Helldivers 2 Gameguard error or error 360.
Ways to Fix the Helldivers 2 Gameguard Error
It is obvious that the reason why the Gameguard intialize error is occurring is because of the anti-cheat software malfunctioning. To get rid of this error 360, there are a few quick fixes that you can try for your game. Hence, here are ways to fix the Helldivers 2 Gameguard error:
Reinstall Your nProtect Gameguard Anti-Cheat Software
The main error is related to Gameguard and for this reason, the nProtect Gameguard Anti-Cheat Software being corrupted can cause Helldivers 2 to display the error 360 code. For this reason, you can reinstall the Gameguard software for Helldivers 2 using the following steps:
- Go to your Steam or Epic Games client and access Helldiver 2’s game files by right clicking on Helldivers 2, then Manage > Browse Local Files. Then, find the folder named “tools.”
- Open the folder and right-click the file named “ggunist” and click on Run as Administrator. Then, click “Yes” when the dialog box asking for permission pops up.
- When the dialog box boots up, wait for the software to complete being uninstalled then click “OK.”
- Once that’s done, right-click the file named “GGsetup” and click on Run as Administrator. Then, click “Yes” when the dialog box asking for permission pops up.
- Allow the nProtect Gameguard software to finish installing, then click “OK” and relaunch your game.
Once you complete the setup, boot Helldivers 2 up again and your game should be up and running free of the Gameguard initialize error!
Restart Your Steam Client
Yes, as peculiar as it may sound, sometimes the problem is not with your game or its anti-virus software, but with the client hosting the game for you. For this reason, go ahead and restart your Steam client and load up your game again to check if that resolves the issue.
Verify the Integrity of Your Game Files
Sometimes running a simple verification check on your game files can let you know why you are getting a certain error. Hence, go to your Steam client and locate the Helldivers 2 game in your library. Click on the gear icon, which is the settings, located on the right side. Click on Properties and when the new window pops up, go to the “Installed Files” tab. There, click on “Verify integrity of game files” and wait for the verification. If there are any missing files, a pop-up dialog box will let you know and you just have to uninstall and then reinstall the game to resolve the issue.
Uncheck All the DLC Packs
Some players of the game have reported that having all the DLC packs enabled in their game has caused them to get the Helldivers 2 Gameguard error. For this reason, just to throw caution to the wind, go to the game’s library on Steam and right-click on Helldivers 2. Click on “Properties” and uncheck all of the DLC boxes. Then, relaunch your game to see if that resolves the issue. This might work for you because disabling the DLC packs narrows down the number of files the game will try to load up when starting and raises your chances of successfully launching the game.
Disable Your Antivirus Software
Your Antivirus software can also malfunction and cause the anti-cheat software, Gameguard in Helldivers 2 to cause issues when launching the game. In that case, disable your antivirus software and restart the game. If that does not work, then go into your Antivirus software’s settings and disable it completely, then launch the game again to see if the issue is resolved or not.
Disable the Windows Firewall Protection
Similar to the Antivirus software you’re using, the Firewall software on your computer can also malfunction and cause the Helldivers 2 Gameguard error. In that case, disable your Windows Firewall Protection temporarily and relaunch your game, which should do the trick.
Flush Your DNS Cache
Just like the anti-cheat software, the DNS cache can also become corrupted and stop Helldivers 2 from starting up. For this reason, you need to flush your DNS cache and here is how you can do that:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R, and when the Run command dialog pops up, type in “cmd” and hit enter.
- When the Command Prompt dialog box shows up, copy and paste the following commands in the same order:
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /renew
- ipconfig /flushdns
Once this is done, boot your game back up again and you should no longer be getting the error 360 code.
Turn Off Your VPN Software/Proxy Server
Sometimes VPN software and Proxy servers can interfere with server authentication modules and stop the anti-virus software like Gameguard integrated into games from starting, in which case you will get the error 360 or Gameguard initialize error. Hence, make sure to disable VPN software completely, whether it is a third-party program or native. As for the Proxy Server, here is how to disable it:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R, and when the Run command dialog pops up, type in “ms-settings:network-proxy” and hit enter.
- This will open up the Proxy settings, where you will find two options named “Automatic Proxy Setup” and “Manual Proxy Setup.”
- Disable both of these options and then reboot your computer.
Restart Your Computer
Sometimes, when a computer is running for too long, the memory storage can malfunction and freeze. In that case, some anti-viruses like Gameguard integrated into games like Helldivers 2 might stop working and refuse to connect to the internet. Hence, restart your computer and load Helldivers 2 up again to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart Your Game
As silly as it sounds, one of the most basic and common fixes for every single error out there in the universe is to simply restart your game. Hence, quit your game and take a minute to restart Helldivers 2. Maybe that will resolve your Gameguard initialize error or error 360!
