Guilty Gear Strive Elphelt Returns
The maiden of matrimonial madness returns! After the second Season Pass started with Johnny, ArcSys probably thought it would be really funny if we introduced the other menace of Guilty Gear Xrd to the mix.
Elphelt is back and will most likely retain many and more of her tools from previous entries. For those who don't know her, Elphelt Valentine is a character that operates at range and loses up and several mixup tools to trip up her opponents.
Last time around she was a walking nightmare to anyone who dared to go up against her, think Happy Chaos now, but cute. Her fairly easy execution paired with her fast playstyle made it difficult to keep up with her.
However, Guilty Gear Strive is a very different game compared to previous entries and you can expect Ephelt to get a ground-up makeover that will keep her legacy playstyle in mind. And who knows, maybe she won't be that bad this time around. But we do hope so.
A gameplay video of her abilities will be revealed during The Game Awards tonight.
Elphelt Release Date
The new update to Guilty Gear Strive will be released today December 7, 2023, for all platforms. Elphelt will be the second character available in the 2nd Season Pass after Johnny. If you have purchased the Season Pass you'll be able to play her with two additional colors but you can also purchase her separately for 6.99€ EUR.
New Update
The new update to Guilty Gear Strive does not only make Elphelt playable but will also add her to the arcade mode. In addition, there'll be adjustments to almost all existing characters, details will be posted as soon as the update goes live.
Both Potemkin and Axl Low will also receive new special attacks. Potemkin's new move looks akin to an upper cut while Axl gets some sort of tornado which might be a short-range projectile used for zoning.
Guilty Gear Strive Team Battles
But that's not all. Coming in 2024 is a team battle mode which will allow up to 6 players to compete at the same time.
Yes, you read that right, Team Battle promises that 6 players will fight each other at the same time. How that will exactly work out, we have no idea. Maybe all six players fight each other in 3v3 matches with combined combos, saves, and on or we'll get to play team fights with a tag mechanic.
We'll of course keep you updated once more information on this new mode becomes available so stay tuned.
Do also keep in mind that there are at least 2 more characters to come in Guilty Gear Strive. The next character is expected to be revealed at the Arc World Tour Grand Finals early next year and the final character will most likely be showcased at EVO Japan in April.
