Liquid STRETCH explains the reasoning behind his and Bugha’s split.
Fortnite Solo World Cup Champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and Liquid STRETCH are no longer a duo after the latter confirmed as much on Twitter early this morning. The two had begun teaming back in Season X along with Shawn “clarityG” Washington. Despite their fifth-place finish in the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 FNCS, it looks like Bugha and STRETCH will part ways.
STRETCH Announces the Split on Twitter
no longer playing with bugha btw, you can’t be the best if you stream and bugha has to stream so decided it’s best we play with other people.

Team Liquid’s STRETCH took to Twitter with the announcement, confirming that he and Bugha are no longer a duo.
“no longer playing with bugha btw, you can’t be the best if you stream and bugha has to stream so decided it’s best we play with other people.”
This news comes out on the heels of the rescheduled May 4th Duos Cash Cup. STRETCH and Bugha played out six matches in round one of the Cash Cup. The two accumulated 178 points and finished in 4,685th place. Bugha later partnered up with OwlFN for the same tournament. They qualified for round two after only three matches.
When asked why he and Bugha decided to part ways, STRETCH stated: “Streaming > competitive for somebody like him.” Bugha often averages tens of thousands of viewers with each Fortnite stream.
New Duo Partners

As of right now, STRETCH confirmed on Twitter that he would be partnering with Ben “Edgey” Peterson of NRG for future competitions. Bugha has yet even to acknowledge the split with STRETCH. He occasionally teams with OwlFN and Avery, so it’s possible he could find a new partner there. We can’t be sure until Bugha confirms the parting of ways with STRETCH.
Could it be an impression farm?
Professional Fortnite players are no strangers to impression farming on Twitter. Back in Chapter 2 Season 1, Bugha and STRETCH both stated that they were no longer teaming with champion duo Williams “Zayt” Aubin and Rocco “Saf” Morales.
Later that evening on stream, Bugha “revealed” his new team, but it was the same group as before.
It’s always essential to take team changes and duo splits with a grain of salt until the next tournament. The Fortnite scene has an unprecedented track record of misleading their followers. We won’t know that Bugha and STRETCH have split until the next Duo Cash Cup. STRETCH, however, did reiterate that he and Bugha are no longer a duo when someone called his bluff.
lol I’m really not joking

We will have to wait and see if STRETCH and Bugha are, in fact, no longer a duo.
