Vanguard have announced the signing of former FaZe Clan member Brendan “Jaomock” O’Brien.
The relatively new esports organization, Vanguard, has expanded its Fortnite roster with yet another talented player. After first signing a slew of players, including Jonathan “Calculator” Weber back in November, Vanguard began plotting their next acquisition. The organization agreed with former FaZe Clan member, Brendan “Jaomock” O’Brien. This signing marks Vanguard’s fifth since November, and Jaomock is their first NA West player.
Who is Jaomock?

Jaomock is a professional Fortnite player who also happens to be a pioneer in the competitive scene. The former FaZe member’s track record dates back to May of 2018. His first noteworthy tournament was the first-ever Keemstar Fortnite Friday tournament where he competed alongside YouTube personality, Bryan “RiceGum” Quang Le. Jaomock competed in both the Summer and Fall Skirmish events later in 2018 and saw steady results throughout both tournaments.
Career Ups and Downs
In late 2018, Jaomock and his duo partner at the time and fellow FaZe Clan member, Jason “Tenp0” Wang, finished in ninth place at WSOE 3. Jaomock also teamed up with Kevin “Kevie1” Bednarski for the Secret Skirmish, where they came in 11th place. The Fortnite World Cup Qualifier took place in July of 2019, but Jaomock did not qualify as a solo or duo competitor. He attempted to play alongside several different partners, but the NA West region was just too difficult to overcome.

After Jaomock announced a parting of ways with FaZe Clan in October, he seemed to find his rhythm again in competitive Fortnite. Recent months have produced much more reassuring results for Jaomock. He competed with snirot, jdw and Zoommba for the Chapter 2 Season 1 Fortnite Champion Series. Jaomock and his teammates reached the Grand Finals and ended up in 13th place.
Vanguard Continues to Grow
We’ve seen organizations fizzle out in competitive Fortnite recently. Most notably, Na’Vi pulled out of the Fortnite atmosphere citing a lack of organizational support by Epic Games. It’s refreshing to see newly established organizations entering competitive Fortnite. Vanguard currently rosters the previously mentioned Calculator, who was part of the Season X Championship-winning squad. They also acquired Chapter 2 Season 1 Champion, KEZ.
The addition of Jaomock makes perfect sense for the organization, given the fact that they are still finding their footing. The former FaZe Clan player currently possesses 160K subscribers on YouTube and over 230K Twitter followers. Vanguard further legitimized themselves with the acquisition of a known commodity in the scene. As Fortnite Esports continues to develop, organizations will look to identify talented and recognizable names. The rumored Fortnite World Cup in 2020 will provide an excellent opportunity for Jaomock to qualify and represent his new organization in the best way possible.
