Although many may not be aware, Stretch is rapidly becoming a household name in competitive Fortnite. Epic Games launched Season X in August of 2019 and this coincided with the beginning of the Fortnite Champion Series. Epic Games implemented a change in the competitive format, which saw trios replace duos. This meant professional players needed to seek out complementary pieces in order to build an ideal team. Solo World Cup Champion, Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, made the ultimate decision to team with fellow rising stars, ClarityG and Stretch. As each FNCS week progressed, viewers began to realize just how talented Stretch was as a relatively unknown player at the time. The trio of Stretch, Bugha and ClarityG made waves during the FNCS competition, which included a top 8 finish in all five qualifying weeks. Needless to say, Stretch began to elevate himself into the upper-echelon of competitive Fortnite.

On October 4th, 2019, Team Liquid took to Twitter to announce the signing of Stretch to their storied organization. The indication through all of the Fortnite Champion Series was that Stretch would not be a free agent for much longer. Competing alongside Bugha and Clarity helped give him the exposure he needed for organizations to take notice. Stretch joins the likes of Tom “72hrs” Mulligan, Noah “Vivid” Wright, Ryan “Chap” Chaplo and many more on the stacked roster that is Team Liquid. With the next season of the Fortnite Champion Series approaching, this signing could not have come at a better time.

Team Liquid’s Fortnite Manager took part in a statement in regards to the free-agent acquisition of the young Fortnite phenom.

“I'm honored to have Stretch join Team Liquid's Fortnite roster. I've been watching him throughout the FCS and he has impressed me and the rest of Team Liquid time and time again. Through our interactions I've learned that he's a great person & a terrific competitor and I'm looking forward to supporting him in his journey, both competitively and in growing his brand and helping him grow as a person.”

Stretch in the Spotlight

This signing is an accurate representation of how Stretch’s hard work is paying itself off through the FNCS on into the Twitch Rivals Fortnite competition. He’s a selfless player and his mechanics are amongst some of the best in all of competitive Fortnite. The clips featured in Team Liquid’s announcement Tweet are just a small sample of what Stretch is capable of. He has a promising future ahead of him and Team Liquid will undoubtedly elevate his name to another level.

Team Liquid investor and NBA Hall of Famer, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, also spoke out via Twitter in response to the signing. This sort of recognition comes with the territory of signing to a high-profile organization. Several highly recognizable celebrities of all walks are taking notice of this increase in popularity. Esports are on the uprise, and Team Liquid is one of many franchises at the forefront. Stretch is in good company as Fortnite transitions into Season 11.

With Epic Games implementing a change from trios to squads, Stretch will be competing with Bugha, Williams “Zayt” Aubin and Rocco “Saf” Morales. The potential of these four is immeasurable as Bugha, Zayt and Saf have all accomplished a lot individually in competitive Fortnite. It’s safe to say that Stretch is in an ideal position after signing with Team Liquid and being apart of what could be an outstanding squad in the upcoming season of the Fortnite Champion Series.
