ESTNN guides players through Crafting in Fortnite Season 8 and upgrading the all-new Sideways weapons.
Crafting is back once again in Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 8. The mechanic—introduced in Chapter 2 – Season 6–has become a staple over the last three seasons. While it's certainly not as emphasized, Epic Games continues to find ways of improving and innovating the mechanic.
Season 8 marked the debut of Sideways weapons, which are products of the Cube invasion. Players can use the familiar Crafting system to upgrade the rarity of these otherworldly Rifles and Miniguns provided they have the proper tools. Additionally, Epic kept Nuts' n' Bolts around to keep traditional Crafting alive in Fortnite Battle Royale.
Today, we'll look at the Crafting this season, guiding players through all of the combinations currently available.

We mentioned that Sideways weapons are a new addition this season. Well, these don't technically fit into the crafting category, but players can use the crafting menu to upgrade Sideways weapon rarities. Doing so requires Cube Monster Parts, which you can obtain from eliminated Cube Monsters. These NPCs spawn in the glowing Sideways zones on the map.
You'll also find Nuts' n' Bolts as Floor Loot and in Toolboxes around the map, which you can use to craft weapons such as the Suppressed Assault Rifle, Charge Shotgun & Rapid Fire SMG.
Here are all the upgrading and crafting combinations in Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 8:
Upgrading
Sideways Rifle
- Uncommon to Rare – 15 Cube Monster Parts
- Rare to Epic – 20 Cube Monster Parts
- Epic to Legendary – 25 Cube Monster Parts
- Legendary to Mythic – 50 Cube Monster Parts
Sideways Minigun
- Uncommon to Rare – 15 Cube Monster Parts
- Rare to Epic – 20 Cube Monster Parts
- Epic to Legendary – 25 Cube Monster Parts
- Legendary to Mythic – 50 Cube Monster Parts
Crafting
- 1 Assault Rifle (Rare, Epic or Legendary) + 1 Nuts' n' Bolts = Suppressed Assault Rifle
- 1 Burst Assault Rifle (Rare, Epic or Legendary) + 1 Nuts' n' Bolts = Suppressed Assault Rifle
- 1 Submachine Gun (All Rarities) + 1 Nuts' n' Bolts = Rapid Fire SMG
- 1 Pump Shotgun (All Rarities) + 1 Nuts ‘n’ Bolts = Charge Shotgun
- 1 Lever Action Shotgun (All Rarities) + 1 Nuts ‘n’ Bolts = Charge Shotgun
Epic is supposedly developing a Sideways Shotgun and perhaps even more innovative weapons. If that's the case, we'll more than likely be able to upgrade them using Cube Monster Parts. Other crafting and upgrade options might become available throughout the season, so be sure to check back here for an updated list of crafting combinations.
