A Twitter post by Netflix’s @NXOnNetflix, their official account regarding science fiction and fantasy shows on the service, teased a collaboration with Fortnite developers, Epic Games.
According to a tweet from Netflix, fans of Stranger Things can expect some sort of crossover with an Epic Games property to coincide with the release of the show’s third season. While the account does not specifically mention the Fortnite IP, there’s not much else it could be.

Epic Games is famous at this point for doing movie crossovers, having had special events for movies like Avengers: Endgame and John Wick. These events often come with changes to the map, new items, and new game modes. These additions bring new players into Fortnite while helping to promote whatever the crossover might be, so it’s a win-win for both Epic and the participating studios.

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest IP’s, and a crossover with the Fortnite masses could be just what it needs to bring younger fans into the Netflix fold. Again, NXOnNetflix was tight-lipped on exactly what the partnership with Epic actually entails. The tweet does say, however, that fans will find out “real soon.”
Netflix will have to spill the beans on their plans with Epic “real soon,” anyway, as Stranger Things’ third season is set to premiere on July 4th.
