MrSavage discusses his split with benjyfishy and a possible reunion between the two in the future.
Martin “MrSavage” Foss Andersen and Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish will go down in history as one of the greatest Fortnite duos of all time. Their short time teaming together produced outstanding results. The two were once part of the NRG esports organization together. MrSavage has since moved on to 100 Thieves after receiving a much more generous offer.
Savage and Benjy rose to the top of the Europe region as solos and together in their partnership. Both players qualified multiple times for the Fortnite World Cup, and they qualified in three out of five weeks as a duo. Their tirade through the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers ranks at the top of the most impressive duo performances in the last three years of competitive Fortnite.
Benjy and MrSavage finished in a respectable 14th place at the Fortnite World Cup Duo Finals. Many thought these two would continue to wreak havoc on the Europe region for years to come. However, that would not come to fruition. The two soon parted ways as a duo and neither offered much of an explanation as to why.
MrSavage made a guest appearance on a recent episode of the Brand Risk Podcast and gave more information about why he and Benjy split.

Pre-World Cup Trios Cash Cup
With the Fortnite World Cup looming back in July of 2019, MrSavage and Benjyfishy both focused on the goal ahead. However before the time came to compete, Epic Games ran an official round of Trio Cash Cups before the commencement of the Fortnite World Cup, hinting at what players could expect ahead. MrSavage and benjyfishy added FaZe Clan’s Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson to complete an impressive trio of players.
This “god trio” played in the Europe Trios Cash Cup on July 14th of 2019 and the NA East Trios Cash Cup on July 21st of 2019. The three Euros respectively finished in 38th and ninth place before heading off to the Fortnite World Cup to compete for a piece of the $30M USD prize pool.
Season X Fortnite Champion Series
After the Fortnite World Cup concluded, Epic Games announced that Season X would move to a trios format in the newly created Fortnite Champion Series. Players had a huge decision to make, should they add another player to an established duo? Or should they build an entirely new roster for the upcoming competitive season? MrSavage had already competed with Benjy and Mongraal, and it seemed that nothing would change.
MrSavage opened up on how their trio went downhill before the Season X FNCS. “Benjy and Mongraal after that tournament [NA East Trios Cup] were questioning if we should trio. It was just like a Cash Cup or something so I was kind of confused,” said MrSavage in regards to the eventual split.
“So they didn’t really want to play anymore because we needed a 29-kill win in the last game.” MrSavage then reiterated that his schooling situation at that time forced him out of practice. “So they [Benjy and Mongraal] were practicing with mitr0 while I was gone and they just felt like it was going better with mitr0 so they just split with me.”
Dmitri “mitr0” Van de Vrie is another accomplished professional Fortnite player and was Mongraal’s duo at the time. Benjyfishy, Mongraal and Mitr0 became known as MMB. They would go on a historic run in Season X.
No bad blood
Just saying, i love benjy and mongraal but they didnt feel like this trio clicked and decided to spilt❤️❤️

MrSavage stated that he holds no ill will toward benjyfishy or Mongraal considering the amount of money they made in Season X. Benjyfishy, Mongraal and mitr0 won four of the five Season X FNCS qualifying weeks. MrSavage ended up in a trio with Callum “itemm” MacGillivray and World Cup runner-up Dave “Rojo” Jong. Savage, itemm and Rojo finished in a respectable seventh-place at the Season X Finals.
After Season X came to a close, benjyfishy informed MrSavage that he no longer wanted to remain a duo.
“He [Benjy] told me after trios that he would stick with Mongraal because he felt like they had grown so much together and they have good chemistry.”
Savage also noted that Benjy and Mongraal found success during the Chapter 2 Season 1 Fortnite Champion Series. Although their partnership turned in some respectable results, Benjy and Mongraal have not quite reached the top as a duo.
Benjy and Mongraal struggles
qualified for solo and duo world cup, trios finals, squad finals and didnt qual for this seasons duos 🙂

When asked if he and benjyfishy would have won the Chapter 2 Season 2 FNCS, MrSavage responded: “Yeah, probably.” The Norweigan then went into an analysis of why the benjyfishy and Mongraal partnership has not produced a whole lot of success.
“I feel like Mongraal is very impulsive,” said MrSavage, “He’s really good mechanically and it kind of carries him. He obviously has really good awareness and stuff which is kind of just what you need when it’s duos and you have an IGL like Benjy.”
The difference of styles have not seemed to mesh well. for Benjy and Mongraal. It didn’t help that they continuously fought eventual Chapter 2 Season 2 FNCS champions Andilex and Nayte off the spawn in Sweaty Sands. Benjy and Mongraal ultimately failed to qualify for the Grand Finals.
Possible Benjyfishy and MrSavage reunion?
Closer to the end of the podcast, the host Arab asked MrSavage if he would ever consider teaming up with Benjy again.
“I mean obviously I’d like to play with Benjy again because he’s one of the best players in the world. Of course, I’d like to play with Benjy again.”
The MrSavage and benjyfishy reunion is one that the competitive Fortnite fandom has been eagerly awaiting. Watching these to rise to the top during the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers still exists as a fond memory in the minds of most fans. Even those outside of the European stratosphere recognizes benjyfishy and MrSavage as two of the smartest and most talented players.
For the time being, it seems Benjy and Savage are content with their current duos Mongraal and Endretta. Both have won some money but neither have reached heights similar to the World Cup days in duos. But there is at least hope for a reunion in the future for the once-dominant European tandem.
