Fortnite: MrSavage Finds Bizarre “Gnome” Glitch During DreamHack Finals

MrSavage and Benjyfishy encounter a mind-blowing glitch during a high-stakes duo tournament.

Glitches and bugs in Fortnite Battle Royale are certainly nothing new. The competitive scene particularly manages to find the most outrageous ones in the heat of battle or in a position to win a tournament potentially. Everything from car bugs to teleportation glitches has encompassed the bulk of issues for over a year.

However, what happened to professional players Benjy “NRG benjyfishy” Fish and Martin “100T MrSavage” Foss Andersen in yesterday’s DreamHack Open Final is one for the books.

Strange “Gnome” Glitch

MrSavage experienced what many are jokingly calling the “gnome” glitch during a tournament with $200K USD on the line. He and his duo partner benjyfishy were in a mid-game scenario and took a box fight against another team. The opposing players pushed benjyfishy and MrSavage aggressively, which the two legendary players usually could handle.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit difficult to fight another player who shrinks in size. As you can see in MrSavage’s tweet above, the “Aura” skin recklessly pushes but somehow becomes smaller than normal. It’s a bizarre glitch that many Twitter users had trouble believing. What’s more, MrSavage reviewed the match footage to verify what all viewers of his stream believed they witnessed. Sure enough, the character shrunk in size much to the dismay of benjyfishy and MrSavage.

Communal Reaction & End Result

Fortnite World Cup winner Kyle “SEN Bugha” Giersdorf reacted to the clip on Twitter with a simple “LOL WHAT” comment. That same sentiment carried across the thousands of people that interacted with MrSavage’s tweet. Evidently, the glitch is something very few or perhaps no one has seen before. MrSavage and Benjy would ultimately finish in 14th place. Perhaps their result could have been better had they not encountered this strange occurrence.

Epic Games has not acknowledged the glitch, and no one seems to know how it happened. Nonetheless, we can safely file this under the explainable mysteries of Fortnite Battle Royale.
