Fortnite: Icon Series Announced, Ninja Themed Skin to be Released on January 16

Ninja is finally getting a Fortnite skin that he has longed for as a part of the Fortnite Icon Series.

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is synonymous with the game of Fortnite. His rise to stardom mixed his impressive gameplay in Fortnite with his unique personality. He broke many records on Twitch during his come-up. Ninja even famously played on stream with Drake in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers. It's safe to say the name Ninja goes hand-in-hand with Epic Games' popular Battle Royale title. Recently on Twitter, Ninja's been teasing an announcement that had many curious onlookers wondering what would come next. After a recent partnership and exclusive shoe deal with Adidas, we could only guess as to what was coming down the pipeline.

Ninja's Announcement

On January 15th, Ninja announced via Twitter that he is receiving an exclusive Fortnite skin as part of the Fortnite Icon Series. One of the biggest gripes that Ninja has had with Fortnite: Battle Royale is the lack of collaborations with popular streamers and esports organizations. The former Twitch turned Mixer star now etched himself in the Fortnite history books with a skin of his own. Ninja had this to say regarding this monumental moment:

“I've dreamt of having a skin in Fortnite since I started playing the game. Today, my dream becomes reality. Get the Ninja Fortnite Skin in the Epic store Thursday 6 p.m. CST-Sunday 7 p.m. Don't forget to use code NINJA!”

It's fitting to see Ninja receive a skin seeing that his growth coincided with Fortnite's over the last two and a half years. The skin itself features Ninja's ultra-popular blue hair, two katanas as a pickaxe, a blue and yellow color pallet and Ninja's trademarked logo.

Professional Fortnite Players Chime In

FaZe Clan member, Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, chimed in with his approval of the skin's aesthetic. Ninja's long-time duo partner, Malachi “Reverse2k” Greiner, Tweeted out a screenshot showing that he currently possesses Fortnite's newest item shop addition. The general reaction to the skin and Icon Series has been positive, and it leaves many fans and creators alike wondering what will come next.

The Icon Series

Although the Ninja announcement is significant, the Fortnite Icon Series will not end there. The news release on the Fortnite website referenced that “The Icon Series brings the artistic vision, personality, and attitude of top creators to Fortnite, building on previous collaborations with Marshmello and Major Lazer.” Referencing Marshmello and Major Lazer could be hinting toward collaborations with artists and celebrities of a similar status.

To conclude the same news release, the Fortnite Team stated: “Stay tuned for future Icon Series collaborations, including Loserfruit, TheGrefg and more creators from games, music and entertainment.” At the very least, we can expect item shop skins themed to TheGrefg and Loserfruit. Beyond the three that we are aware of, the sky is the limit for the Fortnite Icon Series.

Ninja's exclusive Fortnite: Battle Royale skin will be available in the item shop beginning tomorrow January 16th at 7:00 p.m. EST.
