Fortnite: DreamHack Cash Cup Extra #6 Recap & Results

ESTNN recaps the results for the August 25 DreamHack Cash Cup Extra trios tournament for NA East and Europe.

Fortnite trios worldwide are on a collision course with the grand finale of Chapter 2 – Season 7. The FNCS Season 7 Finals are mere weeks away, and these teams need all the practice they can handle if they hope to secure a portion of the $3M USD up for grabs and the coveted Axe of Champions. Thankfully, the DreamHack Cash Cup Extra adds another layer of intense w-key practice for the top-132 teams from this week’s NA East and Europe Trio Cash Cups.

With six points per elimination and a whole lot of placement points on the line, the Cash Cup Extra is a tall task for the world’s elite teams. The Europe and NA East tournaments concluded today, and the results should not surprise those who follow competitive Fortnite. Nonetheless, let’s take a look at how the top 132 teams in each region performed as they competed for a share of $34.5K USD and confidence heading into the final stages of the Fortnite Champion Series.

Europe

TaySon, Veno & Rezon Annihilate the Field

Three-time FNCS Winner Tai “Falcon TaySon” Starčič found another championship-caliber team in Rezon and fellow Falcons Esports player Veno. The three Fortnite phenoms have two Trio Cash Cup wins under their belt this season and added a Cash Cup Extra earlier today. It wasn’t close, either. TaySon, Rezon and Veno won three of their eight matches and earned 91 eliminations—the most of any team by a wide margin.

TaySon has a clear eye for talent, considering he left the team he finished third with in FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 6. The three players possess the ability to w-key Europe’s best trios and can play smart. That’s a dangerous combination, making TaySon, Rezon and Veno a front-runner in Season 7. Seeing them decimate the Cash Cup Extra should be all of Europe on notice.

Wolfiez, Merijn & Milan Land in Distant Second

The Fortnite World Cup runner-up Jaden “XL Wolfiez” Ashman, GAMMA Merijn and Milan “GXR milan” Lopes managed three top-five results to finish the competition in second place. Apart from TaySon’s team, Wolfiez and company looked exceptional down the stretch. Their ten-game effort produced nearly 70 eliminations and a Victory Royale, which ultimately helped them secure second-place in a tie-breaker.

Wolfiez, Merijn and milan have now achieved a Cash Cup Extra runner-up on the heels of two top-ten Trio Cash Cup results in the last few weeks. Their playstyle seems adaptable to different scoring systems, making them a contender in the FNCS Semi-Finals.

The Frenchman Lose Tie-Breaker for Third

Alexandre “Falcon Andilex” Christophe, Jérémy “4zr” Dang and Cyprien “Xsweeze” Dumonteil have emerged as a trio this season worth keeping an eye on ahead of the FNCS Finals. Their first-place finish in the third FNCS Season 7 Qualifier was spectacular, as was their win in this week's Trio Cash Cup. The all-French trio secured another impressive finish in the Cash Cup Extra, earning 672 points across ten matches with 74 eliminations–the field’s second-highest mark.

Unfortunately, Andilex, Merijn and Milan failed to secure a Victory Royale, which ultimately lost the tie-breaker. Nonetheless, there’s no denying their recent success heading into the most critical part of Chapter 2 – Season 7. They’ll look to content for the Axe of Champions in two weeks after a third-place Cash Cup Extra result.

NA East

Cented, Edgey & Commandment Win Last Game and the Tournament

Despite being down heading into the final few matches, the dominant NA East triumvirate of Evan “FaZe Cented” Barron, Benjamin “NRG Edgey” Peterson and Josh “TSM FTX Commandment” Roach once again delivered. Their consistency across the seven matches they played was second to none. The three-time FNCS runners-up finished no lower than in the Cash Cup Extra, ultimately earning two Victory Royales and finishing with an average placement of 4.14.

Those sort of numbers mixed with 59 eliminations is a near-perfect recipe for success. It seems the perennial second-place finishers are trending upward at the right time and could win their first Axe of Champions in two weeks. Cented, Edgey and Commandment are long overdue for an FNCS title.

Degen, Ajerss and skqttles Narrowly Finish in Second

Another impressive team—Degen, Ajerss and skqttles—have moved far past their roster changes from earlier this season and are right back on top. They were in the driver’s seat in the final moments of the Cash Cup Extra but could only watch as Cented and company stole the show. While they haven’t blown anyone away with their results, competitive Fortnite fans know how good Degen, Ajerss and skqttles can be in these stacked matches.

Their Cash Cup Extra performance produced 651 points, including 65 eliminations and two Victory Royales. It’ll be an interesting few weeks as these teams prepare to battle for a share of $3M USD in the Season 7 Finals.

Two-Time FNCS Champs Make a Statement, Snag Third

It should come as no surprise to see former ENDL8SS teammates Dejsean “Deyy” Hew, Mero and Malachi “Reverse2k” Greiner shine in a format that rewards eliminations significantly. Like Degen’s team, the two-time FNCS Champs have gotten over the unexpected roster moves from a few months ago. Since then, they’ve finished first and fourth in recent Trio Cash Cups and secured their second third-place Cash Cup Extra finish.

This time around, Deyy, Mero and Reverse finished with a stat line of 60 eliminations and one Victory Royale. While this could be Reverse’s last competitive Fortnite season, he is sure heading out with a blaze of glory.
