Fortnite: Could The Grotto Return In Chapter 2 Season 8?

Recent leaks indicate the fan-favorite Fortnite location “The Grotto” could return sometime in Season 8.

Since the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2, fans have long-awaited the return of The Grotto — a beloved point of interest (POI). Located near Dirty Docks, The Grotto had everything any player could imagine—annoying non-player characters (NPCs), a vault filled with exceptional loot, and the Mythic Minigun-toting boss known as Brutus. For many, Chapter 2 – Season 2 represented one of the best seasons since the Fortnite Blackout because of locations such as The Rig, The Yacht, The Shark, and, of course, the aforementioned Grotto.

All Mythic POIs from Season 2 vanished without a trace when the map flooded just one season later. The Grotto has stuck with most players who dream of experiencing the chaos once again. While the legendary location remains a figment of our imagination, some recent Season 8 leaks have people talking about a potential Grotto revival coming soon.

Will The Grotto Return in Season 8?

It may be too soon to say for sure, but some leaks surfaced today seem to indicate The Grotto’s return. Fortnite data miner HYPEX took to Twitter with curious details; Epic Games updated Ghost and Shadow Henchmen regarding their health and how much ammo they drop.

Henchmen are the NPCs that appeared at all Mythic POIs back in Chapter 2 – Season 2. In proceeding seasons, one member of each faction remained in Fortnite as an easter egg of sorts, but The Grotto did not.

HYPEX and many others have reason to believe that the location might return at some point this season based on the information gathered—perhaps even in the next update. A tweet from HYPEX earlier this season indicated that The Grotto’s water level has continuously decreased of late.

There’s enough evidence to support the running theory that The Grotto will make its triumphant return. Epic has not confirmed or denied these theories, so we’ll ultimately have to wait for more leaks in the lead-up to patch v18.40.

We’ll be sure to update you with more information if any becomes available!
