When does Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 end?
Chapter 7 Season 4 launched with update v42.00 on August 20, 2026. Update v43.00 is scheduled for October 31, 2026, and it is expected to be the final patch of Override, moving the game into a short mini-season once downtime ends. A dataminer-sourced update schedule reported in September puts the season’s last day on October 31 and the mini-season start on November 1, with one more update pencilled in for November 12.
Epic has not published the mini-season’s theme. Treat the dates above as the working schedule: patch dates can slip, but they have matched this season so far.

Fortnitemares 2026: map changes, collabs and loot
The Halloween event went live with v42.30 on October 1 and changed a chunk of the map. Two new locations replaced old ones in the north: Nightmare Neighborhood took over from The Battlewoods and houses a Freddy Krueger boss, while Freaky Fields replaced Latte Landing. A Five Nights at Freddy’s landmark, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, is also on the island, with animatronics you can take down and then control.
Other collaborations arrived alongside the event, including Hollow Knight and Hazbin Hotel. The Sprite system picked up two Halloween variants, the Pumpkin Sprite and the Vampire Sprite.

What to finish before October 31
- Battle Pass: leveling on Override’s pass ends with the season. If you are close to a page you want, Fortnitemares quests and weekly quests are the fastest XP left.
- Fortnitemares quests: the free event rewards disappear with the event, so clear them while the Halloween map is still live.
- Collab bosses: the Freddy Krueger and animatronic encounters are tied to the event map and are unlikely to survive the switch to the mini-season.
When does Fortnite Chapter 8 start?
Back in January, Epic’s creator roadmap on Trello listed November 28, 2026 as the start of Chapter 8, a date leakers also reported at the time. Epic has not reconfirmed it since, and the roadmap was published ten months ago, so it is a target rather than a promise. If it holds, the mini-season would run for roughly four weeks, the same role November’s special seasons have played before a new chapter in recent years.
