The seasonal Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) begins May 2. Here’s everything you need to know.


Fortnite’s Champion Series competitions are the best way to determine the game’s top players. Epic Games has hosted 13 FNCS-branded events since 2019, with various winners across all seven worldwide regions. The year 2022 marked a much-needed switch from Trios to Duos in the minds of many players, and last season crowned the first seven champions.

Competitive Fortnite returns with another FNCS event worth more than $3M USD in the blink of an eye. FNCS Key Dates & Round-by-Round Breakdown

The competition in Chapter 3 Season 2 follows a similar format to last season except for one noteworthy change. Instead of two Qualifiers, players will have three chances to earn Series Points or secure a guaranteed position in the Chapter 3 Season 2 Finals. The top five teams from each Qualifier will enjoy safe passage through to the Finals, while all other participants must earn enough Series Points to qualify for the Semi-Finals.

  • Qualifier 1: May 2 to May 6
  • Qualifier 2: May 7 to May 8
  • Qualifier 3: May 13 to May 15

 

Qualifier Round One

  • Round one is open to all Champion-ranked players
  • Three-hour session
  • A maximum of ten matches
  • The top 2,000 teams in Europe, NA East, NA West and Brazil advance to round two
  • The top 1,000 in the Middle East and Asia advance to round two
  • Top 500 in Oceania advance to round two

 

Qualifier Round Two

  • Three-hour session
  • A maximum of ten matches
  • The top 500 teams in Europe, NA East, NA West and Brazil advance to round three
  • The top 250 teams in Middle East, Asia and Oceania advance to round three

 

Qualifier Round Three

  • Three-hour session
  • A maximum of ten matches
  • The top 50 teams in all regions advance to round four

 

Qualifier Round Four

  • Six custom matches
  • The top five teams advance directly to the Season Finals

 

Semi-Finals (May 20 to May 22)

Three sessions of qualification

 

  • Session one includes the top 50 teams on the Series Point leaderboard (Series Points accumulate during the Qualifiers)
  • Session one consists of five matches
  • Eleven teams will advance to the Chapter 3 Season 2 Finals (Five Victory Royale winners and six most consistent teams)
  • Session two adds the following 11 teams (51st-61st) on the Series Point leaderboard to a total of 50 duos
  • Session two consists of six matches
  • Twelve teams will advance to the Chapter 3 Season 2 Finals (Six Victory Royale winners and six most consistent teams)
  • Session three adds the final 12 teams (62nd-73rd) on the Series Point leaderboard to a total of 50 duos
  • Session three consists of six matches
  • Twelve teams will advance to the Chapter 3 Season 2 Finals (Six Victory Royale winners and six most consistent teams)

 

Finals (May 28 to May 29)

  • Features the top 50 teams per region
  • Teams can win automatically via the Match Point rule by earning 475 points and three Victory Royales in the Finals 
  • Otherwise, the traditional scoring system and method of victory remain intact

FNCS $3M Prize Distribution

FNCS Chapter 3 Season 2 offers another $3M USD, which Epic Games spread across all seven regions based on participation. Europe tops the list with over $1.3M USD in potential earnings for teams that reach the Finals. NA East comes in second with more than $600K USD. 

Here is the complete prize distribution per region:

  • Europe: $1,362,500
  • NA East: $637,500
  • Brazil: $418,000
  • NA West: $239,500
  • Asia: $145,000
  • Middle East: $114,000
  • Oceania: $92,000
