Necrophobe is a boss that players will encounter in Final Fantasy 16 during the main quest “Fire in the Sky”, after defeating the White Dragon. He is the second of three bosses that must be defeated in this mission to continue the game. As usual, we advise you to follow our advice to get the better of this boss. In this article, therefore, we have decided to include in one place all the useful tips and strategies to follow to defeat the Necrophobe boss.
Location, rewards, and abilities
As already mentioned at the beginning of this article, the Necrophobe boss will have to be faced during the main mission “Fire in the Sky” which will take place in The Crystalline Dominion area. Players who manage to defeat this boss will receive rewards as a thank you that include 1500 XP, 180 AP, and 3000 Gil, as well as items such as Magicked Ash, Wyrrite, and The Favor of Earth.
As usual, we advise you not to take this boss lightly. If you don't adopt the right combat strategy, you might have some problems killing him. For this reason, it is good to be prepared and know what you will be up against in this battle. Like most of the bosses in the game, Necrophobe also has special abilities (Elemental Dissonance, Firaga, Blizzaga, Enfiraga, Enblizzaga, and Enthundaga) which he will use against his opponents to inflict greater damage.
How to defeat Necrophobe
The Necrophobe's strength is that he has access to a variety of elemental spells including ice, fire, dark, and lightning. Keep in mind that Necrophobe will make use of these spells for most of the fight so it's very important to know them and know how to dodge them. In the first phase of the battle, she will launch her basic attacks at you which will be easy to dodge, thanks also to the fact that you will be able to recognize them thanks to an initial animation. Also, by looking at the color, you'll be able to tell what kind of spell the boss is preparing to cast.
Once you have reduced his life bar to 50% and thus entered the second phase of the battle, the Necrophobe will make use of Dark Energies that will knock you out immediately if you are not able to deal a certain amount of damage to him in the time limit. It is therefore extremely important to be able to dodge this type of attack if you don't want to die. We suggest that you use Limit Break to increase the damage you deal and then throw as many combos as you can to reduce the gauge bar found in the top right of the screen.
Necrophobe's abilities
The Necrophobe boss has several skills at his disposal that he will use during the fight. Once the Elemental Dissonance ability is active, the boss will mainly use Blizzaga and Firaga to attack you. In order not to get hit by Blizzaga, all you have to do is dodge to the side; while to avoid being hit by Firaga, you'll have to dash away from the fireballs that surround him. Blizzaga will allow the boss to throw two ice beams at you in a row, so you'll need to be quick and precise to dodge the attack twice. After this ability, he will use Firaga to throw two sets of fireballs at you that will rotate around him. Again, once you dodge the first set, the second will automatically point in your direction, so you'll need to be good at dodging that as well.
Towards the end of the battle, Necrophobe will use more powerful versions of his abilities than he uses in a single combo. First of all, he will cast the Enfiraga ability which will allow him to strike you with his sword engulfed in flames. He will then use an aerial attack known as an Enblizzaga in which chunks of ice will emerge from the ground near him. Finally, he will make use of the Enthundaga ability to shoot arrows of light at you which will explode after a short period of time.
