Final Fantasy 16: How to Defeat Aurum Giant

Aurum Giant is a boss that players will encounter in the main quest, “The Last King” in Final Fantasy 16, after defeating Control Node. This is the second boss out of three to face this mission. As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, Aurum Giant is a boss that players will have to defeat during the main quest, “The Last King,” located in the Reverie area in the Neutral Region. After defeating this boss, players will receive rewards as thanks and which will be used to progress in the game. These rewards include 3000 XP, 80 AP, and 3000 Gil, as well as items like Wyrrite and Fallen Iron.

However, we would like to emphasize that you must not take this boss lightly for any reason, as he is capable of being able to put you in difficulty. For this reason, it is very important that you adopt a good strategy to use throughout the fight in order not to be overwhelmed by the boss and be able to defeat him. Also, as usual, Aurum Giant also has some special abilities that he can use in battle to make life more difficult for us. These skills include Aetherial Assault Cannon and Golden Section.

How to defeat Aurum Giant

To try to hit you, the Aurum Giant will make use of his great sword to perform a combination of horizontal and vertical attacks, 360 spin moves, and will also lunge at you from a distance. It is very important to be very careful in this phase of the fight, as each attack is preceded by a small animation that will allow you to use the parry with maximum effectiveness so that you can then attack with your combos and skills. It is also possible to dodge these types of attacks, if you prefer, and then initiate your counterattacks.

One thing to keep in mind is the fact that Aurium Giant, after executing an attack, will execute another immediately after, so we encourage you to counterattack once his combo is finished. Also, the boss will make use of another type of attack to try to knock you out. During the fight, Aurum Giant will make use of flames that will be thrown in the direction of Clive. The strategy to use in this case is to dodge the flames or run to the side until this type of attack ends.

Aurum Giant's abilities

Aurum Giant has abilities available to use to deal more damage. By making use of the Golden Section skill, Aurum GIant will be able to use his sword with a higher range. Knowing when the boss will use this ability is very simple: all you need to do is observe when he raises his sword to the side and starts emitting a blue flame. The thing we advise you to do is to always be on the move and to keep your distance; in this way, you cannot be hit. Also, once the ability is over, a lot of blue flames will spawn from the ground and explode after a few seconds, so be careful where you walk.

The other ability that Aurum Giant has is called Aetherial Assault Cannon. It is an aerial ability, thanks to which the boss will start shooting projectiles in the air, which will then fall to the ground. To understand exactly where these projectiles will land, all you need to do is observe the blue markers on the ground to avoid being near them when the projectiles land. This way, you will be able to avoid this skill and not take damage.
