Final Fantasy 16 is a Japanese game, there’s a lot of players who like to keep their language choice in the title authentic. There’s something to be said for sticking to the Japanese. As it’s a Japanese game, this is the voice cast that the story was designed around. The Final Fantasy 16 Japanese voice cast fits the characters perfectly. If you watch a lot of Japanese media or often go for the authentic original voice option in games, you might recognise quite a few of the names in here. Yüya Uchida and Yuma Uchida – Clive

Yuya Uchida voices the adult version of Clive, so you can stick with the same voice for the flashback segments and even later when we explore the FF 16 romance options. As the lead character, they have a lot to do here, but Yuma Uchida has definitely risen to the occasion.

Outside of playing the hero in the FF 16 Japanese voice cast, they have tons of credits. They’ve been in Naruto Shippuden, Tokyo Ghoul, One Piece, Chainsaw Man, and even a lot of dub work in adapting western films for Japan.

As a child, Clive has a different voice actor. The younger version of Clive is voiced by Yuma Uchida instead. They’ve appeared in Detective Pikachu, King of Fights XIV, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Both actors for Clive have a great pedigree but this could end up being one of their defining roles.

Megumi Han – Jill

Probably the biggest of the secondary characters, Jill’s voice actor has just as much to do here as Clive's voice! Megumi Han is a pretty big name as a voice actress, starting in 2011 with a Digimon movie and voicing the lead character in Hunter X Hunter. Since then, she’s appeared in Naruto Shippuden Mobile Suit Gundam, My Hero Academia, Sword Art Online, and Oshi No Ko.

She’s even popped up in a lot of video games like Ace Attorney, Guilty Gear Xrd, Smash Bros for Wii U, Final Fantasy 15, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Takeo Otsuka – Joshua

One of the biggest secondary characters and drivers for the plot in FF 16 is Joshua. In the FF 16 Japanese voice cast, he’s played by Takeo Otsuka. He has tons of credits like Oshi no Ko,  Haikyü!, and major video games like Street Fighter 6.

The younger version of Joshua isn’t played by the same actor in the FF 16 Japanese voice cast though. Just like Clive, there are two separate actors. Instead, he’s voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara. She has a long history of voicing younger male characters, with some recent credits like Spy X Family, Great Pretender, One Punch Man, and JoJo’s.

Hiroshi Shirokuma – Cidolfus Telamon

Cidolfus Telamon or Cid has become a bit of a breakout character in FF 16. His actor in the FF 16 Japanese voice cast has a lot of experience with the series too. They’ve previously appeared in Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy XIII as Caius, and Final Fantasy XIV. He’s voiced by Hiroshi Shirokuma, who you might know from Naruto, Boruto, One Piece, Caroline and Tuesday, Fire Emblem, the Last Guardian, or even Resident Evil Village.

Yuichi Nakamura – Dion Lesage

Dion Lesage is a character in FF 16 with a lot going on, the crown prince of a holy Empire. The actor in the Final Fantasy 16 Japanese voice cast for him is Yuichi Nakamura. He’s also appeared in Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Pokémon, Final Fantasy Type-0, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy XV, and even Street Fighter IVas Fei Long,

Akari Higuchi – Benedikta Harman

Akari Higuchi appears in the FF 16 Japanese Voice cast as Benedikta Harman. You might recognise this voice from quite a few big games in the past. They were in Resident Evil Biohazard, Persona 4, and even Final Fantasy 15. In that title, they voiced more background and smaller characters, so their role in this game is expanded.

Yasuhiro Mamiya – Hugo Kupka

Hugo is an economic advisor and Dominant of Eikon, who has a bit more of an active role than his job would suggest. In the Final Fantasy 16 Japanese voice cast, he’s played by Yasuhiro Mamiya.

The voice actor for this character has a long history. They’ve especially appeared in a lot of Shonen anime. You’ll likely know them from Dr Stone, Pokémon, Vinland Saga, Bleach, My Hero Academia, Shaman King, Dragon Ball Super, Detective Conan.

Gotaro Tsunashima – Barnabas Tharmr

Barnabas Tharmr is voiced by Gotaro Tsunashima, in the Japanese FF 16 voice cast, or David Menkin in the English FF 16 voice cast. Outside of this game, he’s probably best known for his roles in various Super Sentai productions.
