We have a Fallout London Release Date! Learn everything you need to know about the upcoming total conversion mod.
Who would've thought that Fallout London, the total conversion mod created by a who-is-who of the Fallout modding community would ever see the light of day? Not that Bethesda's output is any stranger to full-blown new games made within theirs but mega mods such as Fallout London usually take quite a while and our burn out in their lengthy development process.
But they did it. They really did it.
So here is everything you need to know about the upcoming mod for Fallout 4.
Fallout London Release Date
Fallout London is expected to be released on April 23, 2024, on the same day as the highly anticipated Fallout TV series. The mod was initially planned to be released earlier this year but due to situations outside the global team's power, the mod had to be delayed into 2024.
What is Fallout London?
Fallout London is a total conversion mod for Bethesda's Fallout 4. This means that a team of very talented individuals stripped the base game down to its bones and built a new one on top of it with new assets, quests, and so on. If you're familiar with previous efforts such as Oblivions Nehrim Mod or Skyrims Enderal you get an idea of the sheer scope of the project.
Not only does the game feature a completely new map which is based on the city of London. The mod lovingly recreates some of the city's most iconic vistas in the post-apocalypse. To give you an idea of the scale, the mod features over 90.000 professionally recorded voice lines which is almost 1.5 times as much as the entirety of Skyrim's.
There are also over 50 new main quests with branching paths, new assets, weapons, skills and much more to be discovered. The mod has been in development for quite some time now and through the years it only grew in scope into the monster that is soon to be released.
The mod also includes completely original music, sounds, and entirely new gameplay elements that switch up your regular Fallout 4 experience. If you watch the video linked above, you'll get an idea of the sheer scope of the mod which features many of London's iconic districts.
Gameplay wise there was also a lot done underneath the hood. Not only are there new animations and weapons in play but also a completely reworked dialog system with skill checks similar to those found in Fallout New Vegas. There will also be several factions based on the larger London area and you can also expect other neat things like playable guitars.
About Total Conversion Mods
Fallout London is far from the first total conversion mod to grace the Fallout Franchise but after decades of these monster projects that could very well be their own game, Fallout London might be the most professionally made one.
For Skyrim, there was the fully voice-acted Enderal, which frankly was a way better game than the one it was based on and the many total conversion mods for the Mount & Blade Franchise are why the franchise is so successful to begin with.
Nowadays, these mod projects often made by up-and-coming industry professionals serve as statement pieces or something students put on their resumes. They are often not just mods anymore, they are completely new experiences and in some cases, such as the Forgotten City get remade into standalone titles after the fact.
So if you've been wanting to check out Fallout 4 again, maybe postpone that for a few more months until you can check out what has the potential to be an all time. The team behind it is certainly confident about their effort and the production value is off the charts.
We'll of course have much and more on Fallout London as we approach the release of this highly ambitious project on March 23, 2024.
