Elden Ring: How to Acquire Spirit Summons

In the vast Lands Between, sometimes you need help to take on the challenges, and Spirits are the best way to do that.

In FromSoftware’s previous titles if you hit a roadblock, whether it be a boss or a specific area, you could always ask for help and summon other players or NPC Phantoms to aid you in battle. Because Elden Ring is open world, there are more enemies to take on, and more ways to approach each battle.

One of the new ways is to summon Spirits, AI-controlled allies who are different from NPC Phantoms, but can still be a huge help in any fight. Spirits come in many shapes and forms, the first ones include a giant Jellyfish which poisons enemies and can tank a lot of damage, and a pack of three Wolves, which can cause chaos on the battlefield.

In order to summon Spirits you need a Spirit Calling Bell. You can acquire the Bell fairly early, but getting it is a bit tricky. First, you need to talk to Melina and get your mount, Torrent at the Gatefront Site of Grace. After you need to return to the Church of Elleh near the Tree Sentinel, where you met with the first Merchant of the game. If you visit the Church at night, a friendly NPC called Witch Renna will appear, giving you the Bell and the Wolves if you talk to her, then she disappears.

This way you can get Spirits before facing Margit, the Fell Omen, whose guide you can find here!
