Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier List
DBFZ is a game that allows players to express themselves with unique playstyles. The characters ranked in this tier list are done according to how strong they are in the current meta. They are also classified according to how easy they are to pick up and consistently get better with. In this article, we will be highlighting the S tier. The S tier contains ten characters who we deem as the best of the best in the game right now.
The S-Tier
All the characters here are the best in the game. A three-person team consisting of any of these ten will be a threat to any opposition. The first five are DLC characters, and the last five are available in the base game without any additional purchases.
10. Gogeta Super Saiyan 4
Gogeta Super Saiyan 4 joined DBFZ with a very unique set of skills. His character features moves prominently showcased in Dragon Ball GT.
Gogeta has a diverse move pool that allows multiple combos to be performed in unison. He also has a counter move, which is very difficult to predict.
Gogeta's ability to gather Dragon Balls using a move makes him unique. Usually, gathering seven Dragon Balls is a tedious process of repeating the auto combo repeatedly. Gogeta can use a versatile mix-up to gain all seven balls, allowing him to summon the eternal dragon quickly to grant a power-up.
9. Kefla
Kefla, like most of the other fusions in the game, is a top pick. With her quirky attitude and great moveset, she has consistently stayed a top pick in the game.
Kefla has some of the best mix-up capabilities in FighterZ. She has easy-to-build combos and provides fantastic potential for blockstrings. She allows the player to put constant pressure on the opponent, as she has a variety of ways she can take advantage during the neutral.
Her super attacks are also some of the best. She has a droning energy blast super, which can be difficult to counter and does massive damage. Her level 3 super is also a gigantic damage-dealing attack in the game.
8. Android 17
Android 17 seemed like an odd addition to the roster of Saiyans and other aliens. However, he soon became one of the most viable characters in all of DBFZ.
Android 17 has an unbelievable set of moves, making him a hard hitter. His regular attacks can create tremendous mixup opportunities. He can attack from anywhere on the screen and dodge almost any attack thrown at him. One of his specials can create multiple combos, each different from the other. They can result in extended combos, attack cancels, counters, and even other specials. His mid-air critical blast also has a massive meter build, allowing him to perform super moves.
7. Android 21 (Lab Coat)
Android 21 was a broken character on release. Many regarded her as a pay-to-win character because of her great moveset. Luckily, she was given a decent amount of nerfs in the recent patch, allowing her to be on a more level playing field.
21 has the best normals in the game. She has six low attacks, which she can mix and match to fit any combo. This alone makes blocking her attacks nearly impossible to predict. Adding to that, her special spin is also super strong, allowing her to attack from almost any position. She can also deflect projectiles and attack her opponent.
6. Vegito Super Saiyan Blue
Vegito has always been a solid pick in DBFZ. His ability to control the corner and extend combos has always been extremely powerful.
This patch made him even stronger. His medium was buffed, enabling him to attack from half-screen. This gave him four anti-reflect attacks, allowing him to keep the pressure on. He also has impressive mixup options because his attacks and specials are ridiculously fast.
Vegito is also one of the only characters able to use a level 4 super.
5. Beerus
Beerus has always been a mid-choice in DBFZ. However, this patch made him a top-tier Z-fighter.
Beerus’ kit was mainly based on his ki-blasts. These ki-blast attacks are now buffed, allowing Beerus many mix-up options. He has mid and full-screen attacks now that can counter his enemies well. His dual ki variant now has the option of starting full combos. The complete summon has a faster attack time, allowing him to control corners easily. He also has a down special, which gives a bounce-up that can lead to more combos and make block strings unpredictable.
A change was also made to his auto combo, which now has an overhead. This makes it harder to block. Additionally, he slides to the opponent's other side during the combo, allowing easy cross-ups and adding to the unpredictability.
4. Cell
Cell has been a very viable character ever since the game was released. He is still very feasible in this patch.
Cell has an excellent auto combo that can hit even when it is whiffed. He has multiple options to make a block string a pain to handle. His specials make this particularly difficult. One of his specials is a multi-hit overhead attack, which happens quickly and is difficult to predict. Adding to that, he also has a teleportation special, which makes his combos extremely hard to counter. His level 1 special also features a barricade with areal damage.
3. Adult Gohan
Adult Gohan has consistently been a great character with his unique ability to have different levels of his ultimate form.
Gohan is a very up close and personal fighter. All his specials and mix-ups consist of consistent pressure on his enemies. His fast and unpredictable combos make him unique for the neutral game. He also has one of the best beam attacks in-game, allowing him full-screen attacks that he can take advantage of.
Gohan gets better the more he levels up. His combos are changed up with his new levels. He also does additional damage with each extra level that he goes up. Gohan has a tracking special as soon as he levels up, that makes him one of the only characters with that ability. He also has an invincible special that makes him super strong.
2. Android 18
Android 18 is a character that has evolved over the years. She has constantly been buffed to keep her relevant, and the latest patch allowed her to become top tier.
18 is a tag team queen. She has the best summon in the game, her brother, Android 17. The two become a force to be reckoned with. 18 has some of the best corner mixups, allowing her to control the area better than most others. She also has a barrier that can stop all incoming attacks and be canceled into specials and supers, allowing some insane play.
Android 18 has multiple combo options through summoning 17. 17 also provides an additional barrier, which protects 18 longer than her solo barrier. This allows for some broken counters that most characters cannot do.
She is also the only character to keep her level 3 mixup, whereas every other character with the ability to do so has been nerfed.
1. Vegeta Super Saiyan Blue
Vegeta has risen to the top tier of this patch after consistently being a low-picked character. With this patch, the Saiyan prince has finally proven his relevance in the field.
Vegeta is now a longer medium that allows him to reach opponents further away. His auto combo also has greater reach. These two things combined give him counters to reflects, which he previously lacked. He can also anti-air after using ki-blasts, which were missing from his kit previously. Adding onto that, his special kicks have a frame advantage now, making them faster and more difficult to guard. His grabs were also buffed, allowing him to perform combos after a successful use.
The most significant buff he received is his Big Bang attack. The attack can now be canceled into super dashes, specials, and supers. This alone makes the attack broken, but it goes one step further. It allows Vegeta to perform combos he previously did not have and scary corner loops that are almost impossible to escape.
Conclusion
FighterZ is a game that depends highly on the player’s skill. The characters represented in this article are some of the strongest characters and pretty easy to get good at.
