Dead by Daylight has been one of the most celebrated asymmetrical multiplayer horror games of its kind ever since its release in 2016. Up until now, there have been 30 different DLCs released for the game, including new Survivors and Killers featuring classic Slasher title killers and horror icons.

However, we are getting a new DLC or update and it is the Chapter 31: All Things Wicked DLC. The DLC has been marketed to the audience since February 8 in various forms. As mentioned before, the official announcement and trailer for the Dead by Daylight Chapter 31: All Things Wicked DLC came out on February 20, 2024. It is set to be released on March 12, 2024. Here is the official trailer for the DLC:

As we can see in the trailer, unlike many popular DLCs in the game, this is not based on a renowned franchise. This is one of the original stories created by Dead by Daylight. All Things Wicked in particular features a Goth girl and a Killer, who is like a skinwalker. The Goth girl coming to the game as a survivor is Sable Ward and she used to work in a regular Diner when things started to take a turn for the worse.

The setting for this DLC is in an area called the Greenville Square. When Sable was swallowed by the fog, she was exploring a theater. The full storyline for the DLC has not yet been revealed, but it surely will be interesting.

Survivor: Sable Ward

As a Survivor, Sable Ward is being introduced in the game with a new type of Perk that requires interaction in the game. It is called “Invocation” and this perk requires players to activate a Salt Circle in the Basement of the map they are playing on. However, the twist is that a large penalty has to be paid for the extra boost. Here are all 3 of the new Perks that Sable Ward has:

  • Invocation: Weaving Spiders: When in the Basement near the circle, press the ability button 1 to begin the Invocation. Invocations take 120/120/120 seconds to complete. Other Survivors will see your aura during this and can join an ongoing interaction, increasing the speed by 50/50/50% each. If they have an Invocation Perk equipped, they increase it by 100/100/100% each instead. Once the Invocation is completed, you become injured and Broken (status effect) for the rest of the Trial, and all Generators instantly gain 9/12/15 charges. Completing the Invocation disables this Perk for all Survivors that have it equipped.

  • Strength in Shadows: When in the Basement of the map you are playing on, this Perk activates. It unlocks the Strength in Shadows ability, which allows you to heal without a Med-Kit at 60/60/60% normal healing speed. When you finish a heal in the basement, you see the Killer's aura for 6/8/10 seconds.

  • Wicked: This Perk starts with 1 Token, going up to a maximum of 5/5/5 Tokens during the game. For each Token you earn, you recover from Mangled (status effect) 20/20/20% faster. For each 15/15/15 seconds spent in the Basement, you gain 1 Token. Also, while affected by the Cursed Status Effect, you heal 8/9/10% faster.

One thing to note is that the last Perk, Wicked, will be changed before the update goes live. In the Public Test Build (PTB) the perk’s effect is as featured above, however, it has since been replaced with something better.

Killer: The Unknown

As for the Killer, it is a large black creature that mimics other people’s voices and lures them in, to presumably kill them. No wonder it is named, “The Unknown” because it is creepy, disorienting and something we have not seen before. Just like any other Killers in the game, it has a Killer Power and Special Abilities which are given as follows:

  • Killer Power: This Killer Power is known as “UVX.” You need to press the Power button to charge UVX. Once it is charged and ready, press the Attack button to launch UVX, which is a bouncing Projectile that creates a Blast Area upon impact with any surface. Survivors become Hindered (status effect) if touched by UVX while the projectile is airborne. Survivors touching the Blast Area become Weakened (status effect). Weakened Survivors also lose health states if touched by the Blast Area. Survivors lose Weakened by successfully Staring Down The Unknown.

  • Special Ability: Hallucinations: The Unknown will intermittently create Hallucinations, almost like Freddy Krueger’s Dream World. Hallucinations cannot be created while charging UVX, performing interactions, or in proximity to map objects like hooks. Whenever Survivors are touched by Blast Area or otherwise become Weakened (status effect), the next Hallucination's spawn time decreases by 10 seconds.

  • Special Ability: Teleport: The Unknown can teleport to Hallucinations created, leaving behind a temporary Decoy like the Spirit when she is Phasing. Survivors can remove Hallucinations from the Trial with the Dispel ability. Weakened Survivors take longer to Dispel. If the Dispel process is not completed, Survivors become Weakened (status effect) and trigger Killer Instinct.

Besides the Killer Power and Special Abilities, here are the 3 new perks the Unknown comes with:

  • Unbound: This perk activates for 24/27/30 seconds after a Survivor becomes injured by any means. After vaulting a window, you gain 5% Haste (status effect) for 10 seconds. This effect cannot stack with itself.

  • Unforeseen: When you perform the Break action on a Generator, your Terror Radius transfers to the Generator for 22/26/30 seconds and its radius is set to 32/32/32 meters. You gain the Undetectable (status effect) for that duration of 22/26/30 seconds. Then, this Perk goes on cool-down for 30/30/30 seconds after being used.

  • Undone: When a Survivor misses a healing or repair Skill Check, you gain 3 Tokens, up to a maximum of 18/24/30 Tokens. When you perform the Break action on a Generator, if you have any Tokens, you consume all of them. For each Token consumed, the Generator loses 1% of total progress and then becomes blocked for 1 second. Then, once the Generator is unblocked, it starts regressing. This Perk goes on cooldown for 60 seconds after being used.

Needless to say, the Dead by Daylight Chapter 31: All Things Wicked DLC will be very exciting. The new type of Perk is something refreshing because who doesn’t love Perks that include unique interactions? In our opinion, the Basement needed to be put to good use anyway, other than looping the Killer for 5 Gens, of course.

Hence, make sure to mark your calendars for March 12 so you can buy Chapter 31: All Things Wicked DLC and play it in the game! In the meantime, check out all the information given above and go play the PTB to see how it is. Stay tuned for more such content from ESTNN!
