AFK Journey is a recently released open-world action role-playing game (ARPG) that is trending worldwide for all the right reasons. Developed by FARLIGHT and Lilith Games, it is a free to play game on two consoles including Android and PC. Of course, as an ARPG, there are many different resources in the game that need to be farmed.

One of these resources is the Hero Essence which is used to level up characters, but getting the resource is tough. Hence, here is a Hero Essence farming guide for AFK Journey.

AFK Journey Hero Essence: What Is It

As mentioned before, Hero Essence is one of the resources found in AFK Journey. It is like dust or powder which is purple in color and stored inside small glass jars. Hero Essence is used to level up or promote heroes. It is used specifically when the hero is about to be leveled up to a new tier. It increases the level of the hero’s skills. 

During early times in the game, Hero Essence is very easy to get and found in plenty. However, as time goes on, you start getting less and less of the essence. Eventually, it becomes a very rare resource to get and you have to wait a while to get it and progress in the game. Now, there are various ways to get or farm Hero Essence, but not all of them are effective. However, there are a few ways that are faster and can let you progress your heroes more quickly. Hence, without further ado, here are the best ways to farm Hero Essence in AFK Journey:

AFK Rewards

The most effective and easy way to get or farm Hero Essence in AFK Journey is by using the AFK Rewards system. All you have to do is check back in on your game after the AFK timer runs out, which changes depending on what AFK Progress Level you’re on. Thus, just stay AFK in the game and wait for the chest to fill up with the purple essence jars!

Also, make sure to utilize the free Instant AFK Chances which gives you 2 hours' worth of rewards. You can use that twice and then once more with 50-100 diamonds each day when the AFK timer resets, which is completely worth it!

World Map Treasure Chests

Of course, almost every single resource in the game can be obtained through the Treasure Chests scattered all over the world map. These resources of course include our most-wanted Hero Essence. Therefore, if you want Hero Essence, make sure to look for chests. Not only will you find the essence inside the chests, but you will also find it in piles around the chest itself. 

Also, keep in mind that regular chests will give less essence, while bigger chests like the Crimson Treasure Chest will give you quite a lot of essence. Another thing is that you will have to defeat 2-4 monsters to be able to loot the chest, but it is honestly worth it! Thus, we would advise going for the Crimson Treasure Chests whenever you can, as it is more profitable! 

Daily Quests

One of the most infinite and effective ways to get Hero Essence in AFK Journey is by using the Daily Quests. Completing the Daily Quests allows you to earn two 4 hours worth of essence potions which is basically equal to 4 hours of AFK Rewards. For this reason, if you're looking for a good way to earn some essence every day, this is the way to go. However, we would advise completing the Daily Quests only at the end of the day to ensure that you push the rewards as far as possible in the AFK Stages or AFK Progress Battles. 

Side Quests

Another great way to farm Hero Essence in AFK Journey is by completing Side Quests. There are quite a few Side Quests that you can complete on all of Esperia. All of them award you a great amount of resources once you complete them. Hence, if you want to farm the purple essence, a good way would be to hunt down the quests and complete them. They don't take more than 10 minutes to complete and all of them are fairly easy. The only downside of this method of farming the essence is that it is finite and once you complete all the Side Quests, you can’t redo them. 

AFK Progress Battles

We all know about AFK Stages where we compete in battles to increase our AFK Level. The rewards from completing some of these AFK Stages include Hero Essence in the early stages. Having a good team formation with a solid DPS and a healer with defense and other damage dealers will let you push through easily. Pushing through these stages will let you stock up on the essence, but it will eventually run out because leveling up a hero requires a lot of essence. However, the downside of this is that after a while, the rewards stop including essence, so check out the other ways to farm the purple essence.

Noble Path

The Noble Path is basically the battle pass system of AFK Journey. This means that through the Noble Path, you will be able to earn tons of rewards including valuable resources. This of course includes the specific resource that we are after, the Hero Essence. However, keep in mind that those who have the purchased version of the Noble Path will be able to get more value out of it. Still, it is a decent way to easily earn a good amount of purple essence to level up the heroes in your collection.

Legend Trials

This is the hardest way to farm Hero Essence in AFK Journey and it is by climbing the Legend Trial Tower. The whole tower is divided into 4 types based on each of the factions in the game. By completing every 10 floors or so in the tower, you can earn about 250 essence jars. Thus, we advise only using this method if you’re desperate for the resource and need it urgently because honestly speaking, it is hard and time consuming. 

Needless to say, farming Hero Essence in AFK Journey is indeed a hard thing to do but with the best farming methods mentioned above, you should be getting tons. Just make sure to follow the method correctly and you will be able to get enough of the essence to level up your heroes and stack up some extras for later.
