The Last of Us Part 2 PlayStation 5 is in the Works?

After the release of The Last of Us Part 1 PC, The Last of Us Part 2 PlayStation 5 could be a reality, at least according to what series composer Gustavo Santaolalla reported. As with other Sony titles (Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding), Naughty Dog would be working on a Director's Cut of the game.

The Last of Us Part 2 Director's Cut could be arriving on PlayStation 5

The news came following Santaolalla's participation in a podcast in which, speaking of a specific section of the game, he stated that players will soon be able to relive Ellie's story in The Last of Us 2 PS5, in a native version for the Sony console. Last December there were people already talking about the possibility of receiving a The Last of Us 2 Director's Cut, but no announcement has yet arrived in this regard, even if the community seems quite sure that this is a really existing project.

Sony uses this Director's Cut strategy to make games native to PS5 and not to update them in order to make the most of the console's potential. This way, the company can make sure that the game takes full advantage of the graphics modes and features of the SSD. As mentioned at the beginning of this article, Sony has already experimented with this with Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut and Death Stranding Director's Cut, both originally released on PlayStation 4.
