After weeks of speculation, Riot Games has finally announced their latest champion to the League of Legends roster, Renata Glasc. Over the past few days, more and more rumours and leaks came out about LoL’s latest champion. Fans can speculate no longer with a full two-minute video showcasing her abilities. Renata Glasc is expected to be primarily a support; which was expected when Riot explained there will be a jungler, support and adc coming in 2022.

“Renata Glasc rose from the ashes of her childhood home with nothing but her name and her parents’ alchemical research. In the decades since, she has become Zaun’s wealthiest chem-baron, a business magnate who built her power by tying everyone’s interests to her own. Work with her, and be rewarded beyond measure. Work against her, and live to regret it. But everyone comes to her side, eventually.” – League of Legends
What are Renata Glasc’s abilities?
Passive: – Leverage
Renata Glasc’s basic attacks mark her enemies and deal bonus damage. Damage from Renata’s allies consumes the mark, dealing additional damage.
Q – Handshake
Renata Glasc sends out a missile from her robotic arm that roots the first enemy hit. She can reactivate the ability to throw the enemy in a target direction, damaging enemies hit and stunning them if the thrown target is a champion.
W – Bailout
Renata Glasc grants an allied champion or herself ramping Attack Speed and Move Speed toward enemies. If the ally gets a takedown on an enemy champion, the buff duration resets.
E – Loyalty Program
Renata Glasc sends out chemtech rockets that shield allies and damage and slow enemies they pass through. The rockets also apply their effects around her on cast and in an explosion at max range.
R – Hostile Takeover
She sends out a cloud of chemicals that causes enemies to go Berserk, increasing their Attack Speed & forcing them to basic attack anything around them. Berserk enemies prioritize attacking their own allies, then neutral units, then her team, then herself.
The Chem-Baroness’ many tools
Renata brings an array of new tools into the game; but before going into detail about her basic abilities — we must analyze her Ultimate. Which brings a new mechanic into the game called Berserk. Berserk causes enemy champions to attack each other, or in other words their allies, and it seems to be the biggest disruption added to League of Legends.
Imagine a hyper carry like Jinx in the late game suddenly turning against their own teammates. Getting a few kills or even an ace before coming to her senses — when it's too late to save the match because she’s all alone against Renata’s team.
One of the Gods in Hi-Rez’s TPS MOBA Smite called Serqet has had a similar ability for years; called Cobra’s Kiss, which applied madness to enemies hit — causing them to attack each other. The mechanic has worked quite well in unison with Serqet’s other abilities, and at first glance, Renata can combo well with herself too.
Her Q works best if she can launch the enemy hit into another enemy, similar to Zac’s Q ability, and it will be easier if the opposing team is clumped up fighting amongst each other. The revive portion of her W works better as well when her allies can focus on hitting another champion while that champion is getting battered by their comrades. And there are infinite possibilities for Renata to combo with any other Champion in the game, with the best being heroes with great teamfight abilities.
Renata Glasc should shake up the meta quite a bit, you can expect her to join the game in Patch 12.4!
