Riot Game Unveils A New Centralized LoL Esports

Riot games unveil LoL Esports brand set to link Regional Leagues and Global events.

Tuesday marked the unveiling of the new and improved LoL Esports brand. This is set to be the future going forward as it aims to bring fans closer to all regional leagues as well as upcoming global events.

“We aspire to bring joy to billions of LoL Esports fans around the world. It starts with building a thriving global esports ecosystem supported by electrifying competition, sustainable growth, cutting-edge technology, bold entertainment, and a focus on integrity for our teams and the sport,” said John Needham, Global Head of Esports, Riot Games through a press release.

“From thrilling regional league competitions that captivate millions of fans across the globe to the iconic trophy lift at Worlds, it all now lives within LoL Esports.”

This will be a big step for the League of Legends esports ecosystem. We will finally have a centralized platform for fans that are looking for the chance to experience their favorite leagues as well as any new regions that could catch the eye.

New video series

Alongside being an accessible platform, LoL Esports is working on new additional experiences starting with three new video series that will highlight all the main regions of pro play.

  • Weekly Rundown – Weekly Rundown will showcase a weekly summary of competitive highlights and new developments from teams and players. (Airing July 21, then weekly)
  • The Penta – The Penta will feature five of the best plays from around the world from each week of competition. (Airing July 22, then weekly)
  • Champ Select – Champ Select is a biweekly show, featuring a variety of guests who will advocate for standout players from their regional league. (Airing July 23, then bi-weekly)

These shows will also be expanded to contain any information and details on ongoing global events such as the World Championship and future Mid Season Invitationals.

With the ongoing 10-year celebrations of League of Legends not just as a game but also as an esport. It feels like this is the right time to make the changes needed. They'll set apart the future of LoL Esports that continue to show a growth in fans.
