Pokemon Unite Championship Series 2022; Everything You Need to Know

We break down everything you need to know about the Pokemon Unite Championship Series, including format, prize pool and regions.

Pokemon Unite will step in the esports scene with the Championship Series 2022 tournament.

The event's prize pool is a massive $1,000,000 USD; including $500,000 for the World Championships.

Players will play 5v5 using Pokemon Unite’s tournament mode. The open qualifying events will take place every month, starting from February to June. All devices supported by the game are allowed in the tournament.

Each month will have its Open Qualifier round, starting with the February Cup. However, these rounds will follow a double-elimination format. Players will earn Championship Points (CP) from these qualifiers. Their individual CP will help make team changes later in the season. Top 16 teams from Open Qualifiers will advance to the Monthly Finals. Starting from April, players will also be able to take part in Aeos Cup, which will grant prizes and more CP than the monthly competitions.

The 12 teams that advance from the Aeos Cup Last Chance Qualifier will play in a group round-robin stage. The groups will also consist top four teams from Regional Zone’s Monthly Finals. Winners will then advance to a double-elimination final event.

The top eight teams from Regional Zones before June 2022 will advance to the Regional Championships. These teams will compete with the top four teams from the previous month’s tournament and 12 teams that make it through the Open Qualifiers.

Regional Championships will decide which teams will go to the World Championships.

The regions have a different number of teams which will take part in the championship.

  • North America – 2
  • South America – 1
  • Europe – 2
  • Oceania – 1
  • Japan – 2
  • South Korea – 2
