Call of Duty: Warzone has been doing really well for Activision/Blizzard lately. In fact, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a whole has been a great success for the entire franchise.
So with rumors of a new game to be released this year, there has been a development regarding what exactly the next move in the Call of Duty franchise might be.
RUMOR: Call of Duty 2020 is connected to the Black Ops universe, but will not be called Black Ops or Black Ops 5 https://t.co/6tszNElWmN

That’s right. Black Ops might be back.
Current Speculation
This latest batch of news comes from Charlie Intel, a premiere COD informational site. A few message boards have also been posting about the rumors. The original Black Ops game was released just about ten years ago. As such an anniversary release to cater to fans as well as celebrate the longevity of Call of Duty makes sense.
Blacks Ops was developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It was released worldwide in November 2010 for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. There was also a separate version for Nintendo DS developed by n-Space. With Blizzard and newer graphics thrown into the equation, we're left with a question. Where will the next COD incarnation be able to take their players?
Things To Consider
Now, while all of this news seems great, the pushback to deliver a quality game post-COVID is probably at the creative forefront of Blizzard/Activision right now.
Another big question surrounding the 2020 game will be if Activision delays the title because of the uncertainties revolving COVID-19.
Seeing that game development is being effected at many different publishers & studios, it will be interesting to see how this year goes.

“Seeing that game development is being affected by many different publishers & studios, it will be interesting to see how this year goes.”
The whole industry is at a standstill. While gaming is becoming a semi-counterculture under all of this Corona, there are a lot of uncertainties moving forward. Whether it is gaming or other esports related streaming news, the rules of video gaming might change forever after all of this. And, considering it now, there may even be some sort of storyline related to this pandemic in the next COD game.
For all we know, we could hear news about the next Modern Warfare incarnation by the end of this week. It’s not likely of course, just saying.
