New Blackout Area, Alcatraz, Teased for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch teases a new area for the game's Battle Royale Mode.

We all know what day it is today – April Fools Day – but for now, this new teaser by Treyarch for the Blackout mode of Black Ops 4 doesn’t appear to be a joke. The teaser is on Call of Duty’s official Instagram page, where there was a countdown that is counting down to approximately 10 AM PST (or 1 PM EST) on April 1.

There were hints at new Blackout content as far back as the launch of Operation Grand Heist for Black Ops 4. This new teaser seems to fit right in with the theme, as what we’ve seen so far of it takes place on a location that looks a lot like the Mob of the Dead map from the Zombies mode, which is located in Alcatraz prison.

The last time the Blackout map was updated in a major way, the Zombies map “Buried” was added as a location, located underneath the “Ghost Town” named area. So it’s no stretch to imagine Treyarch adding a second iconic Zombies map into the Blackout mode. Then again, this is April Fools Day. We’ll have to actually watch the info released when the countdown stops later today to judge for sure, but we’ll keep you posted.
