LoL: MSI 2022 Day Six, Group A Recap

MSI 2022 Day Six brings a conclusion to the Group Stage as Group A took to the Rift.
After two exciting days of Group action, we finally head to Group A as the Group Stage comes to an end. Would T1 maintain their unbeaten record, could Saigon play spoiler or is Group A a formality. Find out in our MSI 2022 Day Six, Group A recap.

MSI – Team Aze vs Saigon Buffalos
Mexican team Aze entered the match hoping to avoid elimination. With a 0-3 showing this comp, the game vs the Vietnamese team The Saigon Buffalos is Aze’s last chance to stay in the tournament. First Blood went to SGB at 4:30 with SGB. Beanj’s Viego taking out Straight’s Alistar. SGB drafted a long-range engage team and by minute 8 had control of the map, along with a 2.5k gold lead owing to a series of failed engagements by Aze. SGB used their momentum to push objectives taking both bottom turrets. By 11 minutes they had a gold lead of 7k. Aze’s Dimitry attempted a number of rotations top on Lee Sin, but was stymied by deep jungle vision from SGB.
An Ace after overstaying their welcome at Drake at the 18-minute mark put Aze even further behind. At 20 minutes Aze attempted to catch Beanj and Taki off-side, but Stopwatch on Taki gave the rest of SGB time to join the fight, resulting in a second Ace of the unfortunate Mexican team. From here the Vietnamese favorites pushed through to a 23-minute win. Aze has two more games to play but is now eliminated from the competition.

MSI – T1 vs DetonatioN FocusMe
With South Korean T1 and Japanese DFM both drafting for the late game, the team gave each other space at the start game. First Blood went to DFM’s Evi at 4 and a half minutes, with DFM Harp showing up to secure the kill on T1 Zeus. On T1, Oner’s Graves and Keria’s Bard spent a good portion of the early game mid, securing plates and towers for their star playmaker Faker and keeping DFM Yaharong’s Syndra on the backstep. The game remained relatively close, with T1 ahead at 15 minutes with a 2.3k gold advantage. T1 focused on objectives before moving to Baron where DFM forced a desperate fight, resulting in a 4-man wipe and a free Baron for T1, along with a 7.5k gold lead at the 21-minute mark.
DFM attempted a last-minute pickoff onto Zeus, but a well-timed Tempered Fate from Keria on Bard turned the tide, with T1 acing the Japanese team and pushing for the win at 23:30. With this win, T1 secure their spot in the Rumble Stage.

MSI – DetonatioN FocusMe vs Saigon Buffalos
DFM came in seeking revenge as SGB won the previous matchup between the two teams. The action started early with DFM.Evi’s Tryndamere interrupting SGB Beanj’s Diana at Blue buff, burning his flash and resetting Blue. SGB.Froggy picked up First Blood on Kalista against DFM. Harp’s Alistar around the 3-minute mark. A group fight near Dragon at 4 minutes in netted DFM Steal a triple kill on Wukong. At 9 and a half minutes a group fight near Herald put SGB 2k ahead and secured the Herald for the team. Steal’s Wukong worked hard to close the gap, securing 2 shutdowns in a row. A team fight bottom lane saw Steal shut down by SGB.
Shogun, handing SGB a 3k lead. At 18 minutes a fight around Baron saw Shogun deleted by Evi, while Steal took on Taki and Beanj solo before turning on Hasmed for the triple kill and Ace. DFM found a pickoff on Beanj mid-lane and moved towards the Baron. The remainder of SGB followed but lost another 3 players in the face of Steal’s monstrous Wukong. DFM took Baron at 22 minutes. After a rough start with harassment from rotations mid, Yaharong’s Velkoz finally came online. By 25 minutes DFM had pulled ahead with a 2k gold lead. They had trouble closing out the game, however, and at 32:30 some fancy footwork from Beanj lead into an Ace for SGB, scoring them an inhibitor. Around 36 minutes DFM found themselves flanked, with Taki and Beanj forming the frontline that Hasmet and Shogun needed to take DFM off the map in a second Ace.
SGB pushed to take the Nexus at 36 and a half minutes.

MSI – T1 v Team Aze
A huge double-kill in the top side to start the game off for AZE, securing an early 500g lead. Sadly for AZE, Faker picks up a 1v1 kill in the mid-lane shortly after. Order was restored shortly after, as T1 moved back into a gold lead. T1's dominance was fully online by the 13-minute mark, as they moved to a 5.5k lead. By 20-minutes, T1's victory was a formality as they extended their lead to 16k with two of AZE inhibitors having already fallen. T1 reset, and charged back into the AZE base as they sweep them aside. With just one game left, T1 are looking to secure an unbeaten run.

DetonatioN FocusMe v Team Aze
AZE picked up first blood once again, as they desperately try to get a win at MSI. Sadly for AZE, DFM quickly came back into the game, claiming three quick kills and moving to a 1.5k lead. By the 15-minute mark, DFM had moved to 4.5k ahead, as AZE struggle to get a grip on the series. DFM continued to steamroll the mid-game, as they began to siege at the foot of the AZE base. With their base exposed, AZE almost found a game-turning fight, picking up a big snipe onto Harp. Sadly for AZE, they couldn't follow through with the damage as AFM claimed four kills.
However, AZE found a smart play right after, sending two members to sneak a Baron away from DFM. AZE stalled the game with the Baron but nothing came of it, other than reducing the gold deficit. While DFM looked for a Baron, they overextended and handed AZE another shock Baron. With the wind in their sails, AZE made a push to end the game, picking up two kills after DFM forced a fight. AZE claimed the mid-lane inhibitor as they moved to claim their third Baron. A massive push after the Baron, as AZE found another fight victory and claimed their first win of MSI 2022.

Saigon Buffalos v T1
First blood is secured by T1 as they look to remain unbeaten. Two more kills were secured for T1 as they moved to a 2k lead. 12-minutes in, T1 had moved to 3k ahead as T1 looked to wrap up the Group Stage with a victory. Firmly into the mid-game, T1 had an 8k lead with Baron onto the Rift shortly. T1 continued to dominate the game, despite the unusual draft. With another team fight secured and Rift Herald smashing into the SGB base, T1 looked to end. SGB couldn't stop the T1 pressure after they secured the Baron. T1 pushed into the SGB base to claim victory, as they went unbeaten in the Group Stage.
