LoL: LNG Esports vs Team Liquid – Worlds 2021 Group Stage Recap

A big game for the state of Group D. For LNG, a win moves them one win away from qualification, while TL needs to win to move ahead of MAD and keep their 3-0 hopes alive. Also, TL winning would help MAD, providing they themselves could beat TL and LNG.

First Blood went over to TL, which was exactly what TL needed. After that, TL picked up another big kill in the mid lane, though this time it was traded back. While the game quieted down as we moved past the 13-minute mark, TL picked up a first tower and another kill, as they quietly moved to 2k gold ahead. TL had continued to get control but made their first slip up as the third drake spawned, losing CoreJJ and the drake to LNG.

At the 24-minute mark, the game had continued to tick over. With three drakes on the side of TL and a 3k gold lead, TL had firm control. We finally got some action a minute later with TL getting a three-for-one kill trade in a mid lane fight, claiming the Baron off the back of it. TL used the buff to push into the LNG base, claiming a bot lane Inhibitor straight away. Wanting to find a game-changing play, LNG pulled the trigger on a fight, Teleporting in behind TL, but they simply lacked the damage. In the engage, LNG lost two, picking up just the TL support in return.

LNG managed to steal away the Soul drake once again from TL, however, with Alphari Teleporting into the base, LNG just couldn’t answer. LNG wasn’t able to get back to defend as their Nexus dropped and TL moved to 2-1 to level with LNG in the group.
