LoL: Excel Jungler Caedrel Exploring Options Ahead of 2021

Excel jungler, Marc Robert “Caedrel” Lamont has announced that he’s exploring his options ahead of the 2021 season.

With his agreement due to expire in November, the British jungler has taken to Twitter to announce his possible departure from Excel. Speaking today, he said:

“While still in talks with Excel, my contract will run out in November. They have therefore allowed me to explore my options going forwards before the Free Agency period begins, so feel free to reach out to me directly.”

Caedrel has been with Excel since 2018, when he joined from H2K-Gaming at the inception of the LEC. He had originally been a mid laner before switching to the jungle during his time in H2k and finding success on the role with Excel for the past two years.

More recently Caedrel has gained a lot of fan fair after his stints on the LEC and Worlds broadcast, including a number of casting appearances during Worlds Play-ins. His knowledge of the game, specifically jungle, saw him praised by fans and fellow casters alike.

This upsurge in support has also seen many fans calling for Caedrel to join the LEC broadcast for the upcoming split. Though he's only 24, Caedrel might feel he’s best served to continue to keep his pro career intact. He’ll at the very least look to explore what options are available to him first.

Excel change things up for 2021

Excel also announced that Dutch mid laner Joran “Special” Scheffer is also seeking options away from Excel. Though both parties remain in dialogue. As it appears Excel is looking to change up their roster ahead of the 2021 LEC season with the organization failing to make playoffs.

Away from the Rift Excel has also made changes to the backend of the organization, with Co-Founder Joel Holmes-Darby also parting ways with the organization. As he departed, Joel had this to say:

“After an exciting journey, I confirm my departure from Excel Esports. I am very proud of everything we have accomplished at Excel during the last six years. Starting a company with my brother Kieran and watching it grow from a bedroom hobby to a multi-million-pound organization is an experience I feel lucky and privileged to have lived through”
