It looks like former MAD Lions, British coach Peter Dun has found a new side already.
Seen as the mastermind behind MAD Lions in 2020, many were surprised to see Peter Dun parting ways with the Spanish side. Well, Evil Geniuses have pounced, and it looks like they’ve found their new coach. Dun will replace Heo “Irean” Yeong-cheol, who left EG after guiding the team to two top-six finishes in their first split in the LCS. He signed for EG on November 1, as Riot Games rules stipulate he couldn't sign until Worlds has concluded.
Dun seems to be building the new look Evil Geniuses roster around jungler, Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnson. He's seen as the core piece of their 2021 puzzle. As part of this plan, ADC Bae “Bang” Jun-sik will be moving on. Because of this, EG will be looking to find a new player for this role.
It’s not just Bang who could be out, however. EG may also make the rest of the roster aware that they are able to look elsewhere for new teams. This applies to top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon, mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro and support Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam, alongside Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer, whose deals run out in November.
Building a dynasty
In Peter Dun, EG could have signed themselves the coach of the split already. This is providing they can give him the roster to match. Dun’s work with MAD Lions in 2020 has seen him become one of the hottest properties in Western coaching. As such, many were surprised to see MAD Lions let him go.
With EG having a decent 2020 season, Peter Dun will look to build on the team's first season in the LCS and get them to Worlds in 2021. EG will certainly have options available to them. Notably top lakers Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, Eric “Licorice” Ritchie, and Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik are all available in the free agency window.
