Astralis has announced its first addition to its roster for the 2022 LEC season.
Signing from Misfits, Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup will join Astralis as the side's starting ADC for the 2022 LEC season. Kobbe has previously played in North America for TSM, and before that, spent four years at Splyce. He's a strong player and will hope to continue to find success with the new organization.
Speaking about his new deal, Kobbe had this to say;
“I am thrilled to join Astralis. After talking to Kasper Hvidt and the organization, I quickly felt confident that I would be a good fit as I share many of their values, especially with their unique focus on training, physical and mental health – and of course, performance. This is something you don't find in many places, and the fact that I get to live in Denmark and be a part of this set-up is very exciting.”
Kobbe had a good 2021 with Misfits, helping his team finish 7th and 5th in the Spring and Summer Splits respectively. Picking up a solid 5.5 KDA, and 9.3 CS per minute, Kobbe certainly ranked higher than his team's position would suggest. However, he often fared worse off in lane, have a negative differential in CS, Gold, and XP.
Kobbe continued;
“Astralis is well-known and respected here in Denmark, especially for their general approach to building a new culture and their impressive history with their CS:GO team, which I have followed for a long time. Now, I hope to bring many good things to the League of Legends roster.”
By moving to Astralis, Kobbe will also be moving back to his home country of Denmark, where Astralis' HQ resides.
Coach AOD shares his excitement
Head Coach Baltat “AOD” Alin-Ciprian had this to add;
“Kobbe is a significant addition to our roster. He fits our team culture and how we work around performance perfectly well, so we have great confidence in his ability to raise our level as a team and as a group.”
After a difficult 2021, Astralis will hope to become a more serious competitor in 2022. Though their full roster hasn't officially been confirmed yet, with Kobbe in the ADC position, things are off to a good start already.
