LoL Arena Mode End Date: When Does 2v2v2v2 End?

LoL Arena Mode End Date is approaching, but there’s still weeks left of League of Legends newest game mode.

League of Legends’ newest game mode, Arena has been one of the best additions to Riot Games’ hit MOBA title. The new 2v2v2v2 mode took the game by storm, steering players away from the usual Summoner’s Rift and ARAM games to discover new strategies and the best combos to get to the Gladiator Rank.

Even though the Arena mode’s success has been incredible, the developers have told everyone that 2v2v2v2 won’t be a permanent mode for League of Legends – at least not at first. One of the developers of the game, RiotAxes clarified that the current version of Arena is only temporary, and that they hope to bring a more polished version back later, but right now, they would only allocate resources towards it if the community would have an extremely good response to Arena – and while that happened, Axes didn’t specify what is the minimum expectation of Riot Games. He also added that while they really want to make Arena permanent, they have no timeline for it, but love the feedback as it helps them map out the future for this game mode.

This means that Arena is not here to stay as of yet, so players will have to say goodbye to it at some point – but when will that point come?

LoL Arena Mode End Date

Riot Axes told the players that Arena is intended as a Summer Event mode for now, which means that it’s only staying around until the end of the Soul Fighters event, which is at August 28., Monday, at 11:59 PM PST, or 8:59AM CET on the following Tuesday. That means that at the day this article is published, there’s still more than 20 days of Arena left, which is a lot and very little at the same time.

Arena became a fairly big part of LoL during the short time it has been playable, spawning copious amounts of content as well as tier lists and a completely new ranked system, which took some games to get to the top of. Granted that the Gladiator Rank is not as difficult to achieve as Diamond in Solo Queue for example, it’s still a great achievement to show off to your friends.

It’s interesting to see that RiotAxes has talked about allocating a team to the Arena game mode to make it live service, while that happened already: there have been multiple balance changes to the 2v2v2v2 mode in the past weeks, the latest one being released just a few days ago, addressing problematic picks while lifting some of the worst ones up to the top. This shows us that Riot Games truly cares about Arena.

It also gives us hope that this new, fast and fun game mode is not just a summer adventure, but something that can become a truly integral part of League of Legends. The collaborations with streamers and pro players have also shown that Arena can become something very profitable for Riot Games, which is necessary for the mode to stay relevant in the long run. My bet is that Arena will return after it’s end – and sooner rather than later, maybe as soon as the Season 14 preseason!

Until then, play your hearts out, as the 2v2v2v2 mode is only around for a few weeks from now, and on the 28th of August, the gates of the Arena will close until further notice – get the Gladiator rank while you still have the chance!
